Default HELP 2.4 ALMOST COST MY QQ YAK 73!!!

I was out flying today after just putting in 2.4 spectrum into QQ yak 73. It was not the first flight on the plane, but first flight on 2.4

It was flying great, no issues. The wind was calm, and the engine was running so nice so I put it on the deck into a hover. I was hovering it, for a while and I started to walk towards it to the point where I was right next to the plane in a hover, couple inches off the ground. It was a definate adreniline rush. While I was standing right next to it, I GET LOCKED OUT!!! I had nothing it went slowly out of the hover with no control until it hit the ground.......................

When I get over there, the servos were back and working.

I did charge the battereis rightr before, and when I was done it was reading 6.48 volts under load on a 5cell NiMH pack.

So I dont think that the receiver rebooted. At the time I was barely moving the servos, because it was locked into a nice hover.

The best that I can figure is when I got close to it, the receiver some how lost the signal for being too close and put it into failsafe which locked me out completely for about 4 seconds.

What are your thoughts?

I was right next to the airplane... I guess to close. I checked after the crash trying to get it to do it again as far as lockout by getting the transmitter really close, but I cant seem to do it again.

If you were getting interference with the other radio, then there is probably something wrong in your setup.... 2.4 will not make interference issues (ie ignition noise) disappear. You should probably try to isolate what was causing you radio problems with your 72 mhz setup as it may be the same thing causing them with the 2.4

................................. UMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what to say. Do you think it's just some bugs that haven't been worked out in some of the radios. I might send it back to have them figure out what went wrong. Is your Yak totalled.

Nope the yak is not totaled. I am fixing as I type. the Fuse almost broke in half right behind the wing. I could shake the fuse. Nothing else was hurt.

2.4 does not care about ignition interference or anything. Because it runs on a higher frequencey it does not even see the other intereference that 72mgz sees.

The engine is a webra 1.20 anyways.

That's is the typical B.S. that most people believe.

2.4 is just as prone to RF interference and freq swamping as 72mhz. Do not think going to 2.4 will "solve" your problems. And how do you know that you don't have 2.4 noise in your plane?

2.4 is good for one thing.......shoot downs on the same freq! You must still take care in where and how you install your radio gear

I think the differ. I have an Edge that used to get inteference left and right one any receiver with a FPE 5.8 until I put spectrum in there. Now no problems at all!

Not really sure but it seems like if you were as you said hovering in real close to the plane and had the antenna pointing directly at the plane it could have caused the problem, you really need to point the antenna in the up position to the radio towards yourself. Seems like that might have contributed to the lockout.
I have the same system DX-7 and always fly the antenna as close to 90 degrees to the radio, never had a problem yet.
