Default Horizon Hobby press release - IRCHA

Hot off the wire...

August 16, 2007

Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM technology helps IRCHA become bigger, safer and more fun for all.

IRCHA Jamboree, AMA flying site Muncie, IN – August 9th – 12th 2007 marks a world record for pilot attendance at any RC aircraft event of its kind, and Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM technology was there in full force. The numbers are in from the IRCHA vice president – Charles Anderson. “It’s in the books; 712 registered pilots attended the event with only 150 72MHz radios making to the impound trailer. This of course made it much easier to monitor and manage the event. No problems were reported with 2.4GHz users and it was less hassle for staff and pilots who reported they were able to get more flights in at this event because of Spektrum!” – Anderson said

Because the event committee elected not to impound 2.4GHz radios, there were almost 600 2.4GHz radios were in the pits or flight line over the course of the event. Even with this large number of radios not in the impound, there were no reported 2.4GHz issues of any kind. Airframe manufacturers interested in showcasing their helis found their team pilots could demonstrate their machines virtually on an as-needed basis, vastly different from previous years where flying might have meant a wait of an hour or more.

17 pilot stations were filled with heli pilots showing off the latest in RC heli development, and 2.4GHz antennas could be seen all the way down the line. This is an amazing milestone for the RC community. It’s pretty clear with this level of 2.4GHz participation, the 2.4GHz revolution is here to stay, and Spektrum’s DX7 was the radio of choice for this crowd. The DX7 offers all the programming features heli pilots need to take their machines to the absolute limit without any interference, glitches, or waiting for a frequency pin to fly.

Team JR/Spektrum member Scott Cathey reports
“You would think that with 712 pilots and 17 flight stations that we would have a lot of problems. This was not the case! The event coordinators did not impound 2.4 radios and I was told that they only had 150 radios on 72 MHZ that needed to be impounded. I was not aware of any radios issues. Curtis Youngblood and Scott Grey had the new 9303 2.4 system and it seemed to be a big hit. Horizon also had the 12X on display, and people really want to get there hands on this radio. I know of at least 20 pilots that had high-end 72MHz radios last year that had sold them and bought a DX7. I am convinced the US market has recognized the advantages of the 2.4 and has accepted it as the new standard.”
Scott Cathey-

While the DX7 was the choice radio at IRCHA this year, the radio’s capabilities have proven to be useful in all facets of model aviation, and now with JR adopting the Spektrum 2.4GHz technology, it’s pretty clear we are in the midst of a major facelift to Radio control as we know it. With the X9303 2.4 getting ready to ship and the 12X just on the Horizon, everyone will be able to experience the freedom of Spektrum DSM whether they are at the world’s largest RC event or at their home field. Spektrum’s 2.4GHz DSM technology is clearly the technology to have.

My hydraulic bracks on my boat trailer improved them selves after I bought a 1 ton Dually dodge to stick in front of it

Dick it's all good, not all 2.4 is created equal. Spektrum is a proven system , I think? well at least in NC and IN, LOL

Seems more like a Spektrum advertisement than any kind of announcement Max.

Whats the announcement?

How many of the 2.4 users had XPS?

Do heli guys have issues with the xps system, idk how the system works with the helis?

Gents, from time to time we receive news/press releases from a two of the big manufacturers of new product announcements, and other items which they wish to have publicised. When we get 'em, we post 'em. This particular press release came from Horizon last week.

I'll modify the title to reflect this, and probably put a disclaimer on future postings.

Thanks - MD
