Default SS antenna orientation..?

I have just upgraded my 2.6 YAK with a SS 9000.

I have a power expander, and I placed the reciever ontop of that.
I placed the antenna with the 6" extension to the side. (See picture)
I placed the optional 3rd reciever about 1/2way back in the on the top/side of the fuse.

My question is: Is there a recommended way to orient the antenna.
I heard that some place the 2nd, and 3rd antenna differently. ie: horizontal, and the other vertical..

Any help before I re-maiden this plane would be good.

Cheers,
wayne

Hi Wayne,

Do you have a data logger? Best thing to do to find out your positioning is good is to get a data logger. Range test the plane at 30-40 paces and have your helper rotate the plane complete 360 degrees with 15 degree stops, so every 15 degree that he rotates the plane, you go high on throttle and do your normal range test. After that's done, plug the data logger and see howmany fade signals and or lost frames you had. If the numbers are too high then you need to mount the thrid receiver in a different position. I would go as high as I can to forward of the aircraft but you may be just fine!

Hope this helps,
Reza
