My email to Hobbico:

I have heard there is a recall on the 6EX 2.4 in Germany. Is there going to be a recall in the US? If no, why is there one in Germany and not US?
I have already sent my 6ex 2.4 in to your service center and you said it was ok.

Hobbico's response:

Thank you for your recent e-mail.
There has not been a recall issued by Futaba Japan. That is the way that Robbe in Germany decided to handle the code issue. If your system checked out okay and it has not had to be re-bound, than you are fine to use it.

-----------------------------------------------

So it looks like there is no recall in the US or world wide at this time.

Something smells there.

Either Futaba has discovered a problem and implemented a fix or Robbe would not be able to update the transmitters they're recalling.

This means that either Robbe are incurring a huge expense to "trick" customers into believing the problem has been identified and solved, or Hobbico are trying to dodge a costly bullet by denying the facts of the matter.

Both can't be right -- unless Robbe are writing their own firmware for the modules and 6/7 transmitters, which is *highly* unlikely.

So can I send my TX to Robbe in Europe for updating?
HA HA - [THAT WAS INTENDED AS A JOKE!]

I'm sure if Futaba Japan has a new version of the software / new boards that eliminate this problem we will see Hobbico adopt them. If this rolls out like the last announcement, Europe was several days ahead of the US in being "proactive"...

I have no confidence in FASST right now, so I sold my 14mz and preordered a 12x.

Could also be a PR move. The Nuerenberg toy fair starts today and its one of the biggest events of the year for European RC companies.

If anyone else is selling one, let me know! I need one to use as a buddy box off of mine.

Later;

D.W.
