Default Re: Official Futaba 6EX, 7C and TM-7 Service Advisory

Hi!

Quote:
Now to be totally fair, there’s another way of looking at this: the link/re-link issue might actually have been caused by the TM-7 module and not the 606. In this scenario, the newer receivers would have been designed to work with either the 6EX or TM-7, and the 7C and TM-14 could actually be working in 606 mode.
Well, in fact, the 606 CAN actually work with the 7C and the TM14.
The 607 can also work with the T6EX.

Given the above, how can you possibly say that there wasn’t some kind of issue with the 606?
The 606 only was able to put out 6 channels. The 7th pin was not connected. Given that all newer systems can operate 7+ channels, there would be no reson to continue the 606, as the only hardware difference to the 607 is one 0402 SMD 220ohm resistor. I soldered this resistor in some 606's, and use them to control 7 channels.

So far, we only know, that different Fasst codes exist. What we do not know is, if one code is actually an improvement, compared to others, reliability-wise.

The 7C transmits in a code, that both the 606 and the 607 can understand, and so does the T6EX, and the TM14.

So far, there is no evidence, that the 606 is flawed. Most of the very good results with the Fasst system, that people write about, were made using the 606. There are no complaints about the 606, no issue that vanished when people switched to the 607. There is no official notice that something is wrong with the 606, the opposite is in fact the case.

While an improvement can mostly not be done without a change, this does not mean that every change is necessarily an improvement.

Cheers,

Julez

NormS, with all the questions you have I doubt you will get answers here. Why not pick up the phone and call Futaba and ask them? They can answer your questions.

Tried the support forum, never got an answer.

Look, I’m not bashing Futaba. I’m one of their satisfied customers and will probably get some FASST gear at some point in the future. I’ve got some questions, but Futaba’s not talking and nobody else really knows anything.

I wasn't talking about bashing but I know you must be frustrated with so many technical questions about what works or doesn't work and particularly about the 606.

They have a phone number on the website because I called the other day and talked to a rep.

I had sent my TM7 in to have it checked and I called to get a progress report. I have since gotten it back and it had no problems and has a uniquely coded ID. I've been using it since last August without any problems.

Don't really see the point to talking to them directly; what do you think they would say?

On the support forum, Bax and Krysta do a great job but I don't know if they have access to the engineers to get real technical information (assuming that Futaba would even make it available). I suspect that they're almost as frustrated as we are. For example, on the 10C thread they're unable to give any real answers to all of the questions they're getting because they haven't even seen one yet themselves.

The 607 and the 617 are both compatible with the 6EX transmitter. That being the case, there is no reason to continue to manufacture the 606. Just good business sense, don't you agree?

Go to the Futaba website and look at the matrix.

Yep.

Especially, when the only hardware difference is a tiny resistor.
