That is interesting. Is the JR/Spektrum system having problems with range in Europe? Is the acceptance of 2.4 not as high there as it is here?
Well, I don't want to get too Off-Topic, but I have a US DX7, a EU DX7, a UK DX6i, a T6 and a T12.

Measured at our flying field (tx approx. 1m off the ground, rx approx. 1.5m off the ground), I achieve approx. 470m with the EU DX7 (or with the DX6i with EU power setting), approx. 700m with the US DX7 (or the DX6i with US power setting) and approx. 1030m with the T6 (R617FS) or the T12 (R6014FS).

After Cisco sytems filed an offical complaint against the use of 100mW 2.4GHz systems for RC, a TCAM meeting is scheduled for the 14. May 2008 to find a solution.

There have been rumours of up to 1000mW, but I assume it is "only" approx. 200mW.

I am a member of two clubs, one is mostly JR/Spektrum and the other is mostly Futaba. I think it's a bit of follow the lead dog.

Rather than following a "lead dog" I bought both systems, did my own tests and still use both systems - depending on the type of model. Both systems have their Pro's and Con's.

You will not be able to keep it cool enough inside the fuselage during the summer. We tried. You will be defiantly taking a risk. For the guy that said he tried to fail the RX's and could not?! I believe he has the only two RX in the country that will not fail under these conditions. Let Futaba know what you are doing correct because we would like to get in the air ASAP!!! And I mean not my day job!!!

I disagree with this statement, unless your outside temperature is 130 deg. F. It might be true if your plane is entirely black and sealed with no airflow, or your receiver is in the focal point of your canapé. I find that some post, not all, have a complete lack of understanding of the three modes of heat transfer.

My receiver temperature was at approximately 300 deg K this weekend with no problems, lol.

Sorry but why are you expecting to experience problems at just above ROOM temperature?

Well I have modded my recievers for the mean time. I bought 2 speed controll fans and put a series of small holes in bottom cover of reciever and mounted the fan to cover. The fan plugs right into an open port in your reciever. This will draw air thru the reciever any time it is powered up. I know this isnt what you want to hear but for the time being I will still be flying.

I hate to be a pedantic nit picker, but a canapé is finger food you eat at a cocktail party, a canopy is the clear cover over a cockpit. Probably just the spell checker keying on the wrong word.

Never could spell.

It's actually 80 F, I thought I was making a joke, to lighten things up, I guess you did not get it.
