I think the tests showed pretty clearly that these receivers are more sensative to heat than your average receiver. Did Futaba do any testing on operation at elevated temps, say ambient temp above 100F? These guys have 4 receivers that die at less than 100F. Thats 4 out of 4! If Futaba did not find this problem, they must not have tested at elevated temps. I have a 12FG, but so far only one 14 channel receiver. My son has the same setup and has only had one flight (successful) on the 14 channel receiver. We have had several good flights on the 7 channel receivers. I will do some testing myself to see if I can duplicate this.

I put a black piece of paper down on the ground with the receiver laying on top. I then covered the receivers "2" with a glass lid from a cooking pot. The sun was beaming down onto the receivers for hours with temps well above 150 deg and the receivers never shut off.

I just came back from India. It was extremely hot over there. I had the 6014 receiver installed in a composite ARF right under the canopy. The planes sat out in the sun all weekend long and worked perfect.

I never fly my planes with a glass lid over my receiver. What was the point of the glass lid? Was it a magnifying glass type of lid for cooking in the desert? Paper is a very poor heat conducter. Please, a picture of your installation. Sounds like my installation.

I put a piece of orange paper down because it looked better than black and I used a tinted glass cooking pot because it looked better as well. Joking! Common on guys, there is apparently a problem. If it just happens to one guy you could possibly dismiss it. But, more and more guys are starting to have problems. This isn't an isolated case. I am now stuck with a 30 day old radio that I paid over $1200 for that continually loses signal when my Python is in the sun. 5 guys were out with me and watched it happen over and over. What we all need to hope for is that someone doesn't get hurt. That a plane doesn't lose signal between the rx and tx and actually hurts someone. You talk about a liability nightmare. I have been grounded now for two weeks. Guess what Hobby Services said, the system checks out fine. I knew that was coming. What I hope for is that Futaba investigates this and quickly so we can get on with our flying. We'll see!

I assure you that the team at Futaba/ Hobbico are working on this as we speak. It is an unfortanate situation but I am sure there will be a fix quickly. I am in the mean time mounting a Fan from a Fromeco Sarahara regulator to my receiver and plugging it right into an open port. fan doesnt draw much in the means of power.. The heat sink for the internal regulator is on the bottom of reciever so I would suggest that you flip your reciever over and not mount the reciever bottom to foam. I know this might seem like a band-aid but for now it will fix the problem.

Green House effect??? I used the lid to trap the heat. Actually right now the receiver is reading 175 degrees F when I put my temp gun right on the receiver. I have not had this problem with my receivers. I wanted to see if I could make an environment where the receiver became hot enough to shut down. Its been in the sun for 3 hours already and it keeps on working.

Now I have four receivers sitting in the 175+ deg heat. Not one has failed. But the sun is starting to lower and the temps are dropping so the test will have to stop.

I have no brand loyalty, which is why I sold my 14MZ and switched over to Spektrum... or did you miss that? I have no problems switching to a Futaba radio in the future either. I am 100% brand agnostic.

I am looking forward to Futaba's solution because I feel as far as transmitters go, they have the best high end radios available.

I have faith in Futaba that they will find the problem and correct it. It may be a bit of an inconvienence but oh well.
I appreciate all the information I have read so far and also appreciate the guys that are experimenting with the receivers to duplicate the problem.
There isnt any reason to be angry at Futaba as I am sure if they had any idea there would be a problem, they would have fixed it from the beginning.

Maybe drill a few holes into the plastic case???
(Be sure to remove the circuit board first lol)

The Rx is receiving.. I can't imagine it generates any of its own heat.
I would put a power meter on it and see how much current/power just the Rx draws, and then plug in servos and see how much they draw...
