Sheesh....

Is the max power output of a 2.4GHz system in the USA really germaine to the question?

You've gotten quite a bit of input, now it's time to get off the pot...

Does anyone know if the new 12X module will plug and play in a 10X tranny? I hate the looks of the Spektrum module and wire hanging out the back.

Negative. The pin configuration is totally new for the 12X.

Maybe JR will actually release the 12X form/factor Spektrum module for current JR modular radios. Spektrum doesn't appear to have any kind of mechanical engineering staff. The wire to the antenna from their modules is laughable if not dangerous.

IF--that's IF- FCC grants the use of 900 mhz as a "flying model use only" chunk of the spectrum, maybe I will look at it - as things stand - I have a difficult time faulting th current 2.4 arrangement. I fly only DSM2 - (silly me) and it works as advertised - -
Is it perfect?
Well having designed machines - and having had to meet production dates etc., -I think it is quite good - some updates were needed and were offered as retrofits
I saw no "oh sh-t!" screw ups in even the first versions and it appears all -or most fixes were software - No rewiring req'd.
I have heard of the "soon to be announced 900 mhz" but for the life of me -I can't see any advantage to it - over what I now use.
The LAST thing in a radio I want is some overly complicated high bucks bit of electronic wizardry(?) which requires a return to to Der Fatherland for any fix.
Maybe it's because I am an old guy - and have been thru the many varied attempts at ideal radios - (the bad ones mercifully died in infancy)
The DSM2 - works -even in teensy weensy 3 gram receivers and on models weighing 15 grams - and with NO glitches or interferrence
It also works on 40 pound models (tho I sold mine ) and without hitch.
So ---

what am I missing here?
It works n solves a lot of old problems and is VERY cost effective.
what the f---, is this super dooper 900 mhz system?
If it is only for flying safely with all carbon sailplanes - count me out -
and why would I want to use 72 again?? Ya gotta be kiddin.
