Introduction

Highslide JS

So lets say that you just get done building your new airplane. It looks great. You've decked it out with all of the goodies that you could ever want. You take it outside and assemble it for the first time. WOW, it looks great.......but something is missing. KILLER GRAPHIX. There are plenty of vinyl cutters out there but they all look the same. How many layers of vinyl do you want to see laid on top of each other to create that awesome look that you want? If you are looking for single layer application and industry leading designs you need to check out AeroGraphix.

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Experience is big in this industry. AeroGraphix has over 18 years experience in the Graphics and Signage business. Bryan Zang, the mad scientist behind AeroGraphix, is a wizard when it comes to scheme customization through quality graphics. Being a RC pilot himself, he knows what it takes. Top shelf quality and innovative design work is the standard product for AeroGraphix. Using cutting edge print technology he can make anything that he can dream up. Whether you just need that engine logo on your cowl or a full plane wrap, AeroGraphix has the tools and experience to get that look that you want. As innovators of the newest graphic lines for the hobby, the next great thing is just around the corner. So maybe you like the scheme that your plane came with but want to snazzy it up some, Bryan has standard sets of graphics available for many ARFs that are out there.

This project started a couple of weeks ago. I got in contact with Bryan to hammer out what was going on. He got drawings from Horizon for my H9 35% 260. Back in late summer/early fall I built one of these when they first came out. It just so happened that I didn't put on any of the supplied stickers because they looked just like that, stickers. After a couple e-mails back and forth Bryan sent me the final layout for my 260. I was very pleased with what he had come up with. A set of graphics that are awesome with enough pizazz but not too much so that it still fits my personality.

Out of the Box:

My graphics came in two packages. The ones for the underside of the wings were in one box rolled up because of their length and the rest of them were sandwiched between cardboard to keep them flat. The ones in the flat were divided up into 6 bags to keep them safe.
Bryan also sent along a bottle of RapidTac2 for me to use. This is a surface prep liquid and also an application liquid. AeroGraphix is the largest RapidTac dealer in the hobby.

APPLICATION:

Application starts with surface prep. Along with the graphics is an Instructional Bulletin. It tells you about surface cleaning, positioning, and last but not least removal. You got to get that old stuff off of there don't ya?

I decided to start on the bottom of my wings. That is where I am getting a nice big FlyingGiants.com logo.

Reading the instructions it says to clean the surface with soapy water. I took two small containers and mixed up some soapy water in one and straight water in the other. Using a disposable rag I cleaned with the soapy water first then followed up with the straight water. Then dried it off with a dry rag. Then I sprayed RapidTac2 on a rag and went over the area again and followed that up with a dry rag before it evaporated.

I was ready to position the graphic. I decided that I could position the graphic a little closer to the leading edge and I wouldn't have to pull out the servo and cut into the nice graphic. I looked at it a couple of times to make sure and decided that it looks good there.

Next up are the top side of the wings. Here Bryan took the purple and red out of the scheme and designed a cool Extra 260 graphic that adds character to the wings. Same process as the bottom of the wings.
Next was the top of the fuse. I was really interested in the DA graphic that Bryan sent along. I was talking with him during the design phase and he was telling me bout it and that it is newer and almost three dimensional. I was thrilled to see it on my cowl.

I think it looks badass. I can't wait to get it out in the sun.

We also had Fromeco and H9 to display. These are both holographic and are hard to capture in a basement with a flash. Both turned out good.

Highslide JS Highslide JS Highslide JS Highslide JS

Time to put the fuse back on the building table. The next graphics were my toughest to do. We had a cool Extra 260 to put going down the fuse between the wing and stab and also the Fromeco Pirate Flag to put on the rudder.

First the Extra 260.

I saved the Fromeco Pirate Flag for my last big graphic. Knowing that it was going to be my biggest challenge. I think it came out alright considering my amount of experience. Take a looksie for yourself.

Lets see whats left in the graphics pile. Aah! I have some more H9 graphics for my wheel pants that match the one on the turtledeck. In the original layout there was a FG graphic with the plane on the side of the turtledeck. After putting on the big Extra 260 on the side I decided that I wanted to change that up a little. I cut off the plane and put it right behind the canopy and put the Flying*Giants on the aileron. I think it looks pretty good there.

FINISHED PHOTOS:

Well the middle of February is not the ideal weather to be outside. I checked the thermometer and it said 34F. BBBBRRRRRRR Even worse than the temp was that it was overcast. I ran back inside and checked and not a lot of sun for the next week at least. I mumbled a couple of words that weren't PG-13 and piece by piece took the plane outside and put it together. I grabbed the Canon and started snapping a couple of pictures.

Conclusion

AeroGraphix is on top of its game. It is leading the industry with quality innovative graphics. Bryan was a pleasure to work with in coming up with a layout. Check out AeroGraphix for all of your graphics needs. AeroGraphix is also an authorized dealer for Fromeco, SuperDri Smoke Oil, and RapidTac products.

Vinyl cutters are a dime a dozen these days so you need to ask yourself one question. Do you want stickers or do you want Graphix? Call Aerographix...

Hi guys, due to an unfortunate technical problem, the original review thread was accidentally deleted. As you can probably tell, this is a very customized application that allows us to post the reviews in this fashion, and the program barfed. Our crew is coming back to the rescue to get this content back up, hang tight. Thanks!! MD

In my opinion, Bryan is in a league of his own. There isn't a company out there who can compete with Aerographix. Secondly, Bryan is an amazing graphic artist. If you can dream it, he can do it! Also in my opinion, the best part of Aerographix is the color match he can duplicate on any Monokote or Ultracote color. Because he has the capabilities to print on the graphics, he can literally match anything. One of my biggest pet peeves is the fact that the stickers or graphics on your airplane do not match the covering that's on it. If you want to job done right in the best looking way possible, Aerographix is your company!

I agree totally. Ive had two sets of decals ordered. Both times I have just said what size i want and told him what color the plane was. Both times I have been extremely happy with the results. I cant tell you how many times ive had people ask me where i got my decals. I just say "Aerographix, the web address is on the rudder"

Cant go wrong with Aerographix

BZ simply is the Best... I sent him a picture and he ran with it...Turned my plain jane Ultimate into a Killer plane. What I like about Aerograpix and Bryan is I just tell him what I am looking for and he designs everything. I dont have to give him measurements, He knows what the specs are on every kind of plane. He is always 10 steps ahead of any of his competition.

Great Review and awsome plane by the way.

Bryan has done over 15 schemes for me and they have been some of the wildest planes in the buisness. The Budlight Yak wrap on the 2.6 has been in service for 2 full years and still looks new. Nobody in the graphix buisness even comes close to the creativity and execution performed by Aerographix. He is currently doing 2 wraps right now for me that will be state of the art along with all the "normal" stuff he does. My hats off to you buddy!
