I agree, the B-58 Hustler has to be the sexiest bomber ever made. I am sure a prop driven or electric DF model could probably be made, but a true turbine model would be extremely hard. Considering it was made to fly supersonic at low altitude, the wing loading must have been astronomical, and a model would have to be built extremely light to be flyable. You also don't see many B-2B models flying around he he.

Awhile back on that "other" site there was a fellow selling molds he had made for a B-58 Hustler.....don't know if someone ever took him up on the offer. Bill |

Stainless, The "bomb thing" is a fuel tank. Dad flew these for a short time. There is one on display at Kelly USA (the old Kelly AFB) in San Antonio and another at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, Texas. BTW: After looking at the one in San Antonio up close a couple of years ago, the wing tip is razor thin...... Maybe 3/4"! I think I could overcome the building of one of these but those high dollar turbines would make me think twice about the project. (Well......... It might make me think FOUR times about it being's how there are those four engine pods on this bird!) Good luck if you choose to tackle a B-58. WT |
