Default Couple of questions from a soon to be jet guy.

Hello all. I intend on getting into the jet scene over the next year or so and right now I'm looking at turbines for my project plane. I have plenty of experience flying high performance, high speed aircraft and gliders and feel confident in the flying aspect. As for the mechanical aspect, I'm very much a newbie to model turbines!

First off, I was looking at 35 pound thrust class turbines, specifically the JetCat Titan, Rhino JF-160, and the AMT Pegasus HP. Go ahead and flame away if you want I don't mind, I've learned to look through and average out the BS to try and get to the truth , but I'd like to know experiences with these engines and companies if anyone would be kind enough to share. Also I'd like to know which one is the loudest for those that have heard these different types (or others I haven't looked at yet).

How do you guys think these engines would handle a jet pipe up to 2.5 feet long? Would that create too much back pressure?

Burning around 16 oz/min at full throttle, what size fuel tanks are you guy's using? I'd like to get 10 minutes out of the turbine per flight (for most of the flight I won't need over half throttle). What would you recommend?

Interestingly, I've emailed the above companies with a few basic questions and never got a reply from any of them. Do they shut down for 2-3 weeks around Xmas or something?

Well, thanks for the help! I realize these are a lot of questions but I figured I'd throw them all out there and see what comes up. I'm interested in what you all have to say.

Hmm OK....

How about this, which one of these turbines is the easiest to use and reliable?

Hmm OK then, not a popular forum (or a popular member here huh?) heh....

OK how about this then, I'm looking at the JF-170 from Artes Jet. Anyone have any experience with this one, good bad or indifferent? Or how about Artes Jet, good company?

Throw me a bone here people! Pleeease?

JETCAT BABY !!! you cant go wrong with them, although you'll pay premium, you wont get the flameouts, and maintenance issues that you can have with some of the other companies. Alot of the guys I used to fly with, fly them solely now, and these guys burn tons and tons of kero through the year. They have had everything in them from Olympus, to ARTES, to WREN. They consistently have gone back to JETCAT everytime.

look up AFTERBURNER1 over at RCU. He's a straight shooter, and tell him that Jeremy sent you over from flyinggiants.com. He will help point you in the right direction.
