Hey guys, keep the pictures coming along with your setups. I would like to see layouts to help us new jet guys figure out the jigsaw puzzle of where to put things. thats why I said lessons learned. I will stuff some of my elan build pics in to comment on good or bad as well.

Dave, I would be very interested in your experience in this forum, especially since you have seen hundreds of setups from all over the world.

I would like to ask you all's opinion of Jettronics versus UPC retract valve, in a general sense,

thanks guys, keep it coming. Unfortuneately, I wont make Florida Jets next week. Im really bummed.

I visited Ron Ballard's Wren USA shop the other day, and he is getting it stocked up for rebuilds for you wren folks.

Jettronics is the only way to go, IMO. programable, no servo, no linkage, no worrys.
The progaming also allows you to do 2 or more functions on 1 channel.. I have 12 functions operating on 10 channels.. example> I have my gear switch and airbrake on 1 rx channel, airbrake servo and jettronic gear valve are Y leaded together. When ready for a flt I turn on the rx with the gear switch in the retracted position but gear stays deployed and airbrake stays stowed until after take-off then I cycle the switch and the gear comes up. When landing I hit the switch and the gear and airbrake come down.. Smoke and brakes are Y leaded also and operated with slider, 1st half travel of slider is smoke and 2nd half is proportional brakes. Only possible with jettronic valves..

Cloudsurfer - good set up! (The Titan has gone to Jetcat for the Kero conversion)

I have a little experience of both valves. If you are short on channels, the electronic valves are great. I have the brakes on my Bandit ARF set so the valve is set on a Y lead on the elevator and gear channels (so the brakes don't have an independant channel). It's then mixed so when the gear is down it is activated when I push down elevator - and switched off when the gear is up.

BUT

I have run the UP brake valve in the past and will be using one on my super Bandit and it is the best brake valve I've used. The most proportional, reliable and I'm sure it seems to use less air. But I have to use an additional channel for the servo. It is then mixed to the same set up as above.

One other nice feature we forgot to mention about the Jettronic valves is the pulse operation which acts like an anti-skid system. I have that operating from my snap-roll button. I have also used the up valve, but I fly off grass and rarely use the brakes so maybe my opinion is not as confirmed from experience.

Bit of an update on the Bandit. Slowly getting the paint work done. Decided to do it all myself which is a bit of a risk given I have no skill or equipment - but I do have persistance and LOTS of masking tape
