I have built similar profiles, so I'm expecting the flight characteristics will be good. But at 35 degrees F, I'm going to wait a few days. Flew Saturday (62 degrees) but the new plane was not quite finished. but then it got cold.

Just kiddin' man, when I lived in Michigan, I flew in all kinds of weather, after coming down to Texas, I don't fly much below 45 degrees. Please get some video of the maiden!!

Had the maiden flight this afternoon and am pleased to report very good fun-fly characteristics. Weather is not good here - about 37 degrees F and misty - almost raining. But still two good flights to test it out. Does everything a .40 profile is supposed to do - tight loops, quick roll rate, hovers easily. Probably does the best rolling harrier of any small airplane I have flown. Disappointed a little in that it pitches toward the canopy in knife edge - I was hoping for more neutral behavior. It does not waterfall well. It is a little nose-heavy. inverted flight requires some push on the elevator stick to maintain level flight. I'll add a little tail weight for next time. Spins are very fast. Did not try flat spin. |
