BREAKING NEWS!!!!

The Futaba Extreme Flight Championship has always tried to introduce innovations in competition and crowd appeal with Freestyle/3D flying. In 2008 the XFC introduced two new classes as "TEAM" and "Night Fly" competitions.

With the energy and excitement that was evident at the 2008 Night Fly in mind, the XFC has worked hard with the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) to introduce something new for 2009. Through careful consideration from both parties, we're happy to announce that the Night Fly will have an added feature this year.

In addition to an amazing Fireworks show at the end of the evening, imagine having the likes of Terry Hahn, Yuri Higuchi, Marcus Kim, Daniel Katzav, Jerry Smith and others dazzling you with a brilliant light and flying demo. But wait... there's more!! Imagine the same show with pyrotechnics mounted on the planes and helis. That's right, PYROTECHNICS!!! With the assistance of the AMA Executive Council, the XFC will be setting new standards for night flying, while introducing a new element into the XFC. The AMA has a long standing regulation prohibiting pyro equipment to be allowed on aircraft. With new stringent regulations in place, this can now be achieved.

We (XFC) would like to thank the AMA for being receptive to this new concept, and working with the XFC to bring R/C modeling to the general public in a way that will draw National Media attention to the sport we love.

The Night Fly and Team competitons are not soley for the XFC competitors. If you feel you can "hang" with the big boys and have some "game", please contact us and we'll be happy to discuss it with you. The Night Fly is limited to 12 competitors however, and there are some restrictions. The planes will need to be at least 80" in span but does not have to be a scale replica. Helis will need to be a .50 size or larger.

For more info and contact, go to the XFC website. There is a short video from last years Night Fly on the site.

We look forward to seeing you in June at the 2009 XFC!!

WOW!!!! man that sounds awesome! Now I just need to get a few buddies to make the trip to cut down on the $$$ and I am IN!!! I think that is just to cool. what can be better than blowing up your plane with fire works, besides watching all the others blowing theirs up. I tell ya what If I can make it and get my light kit built in time I will bring the 35% just to thrash in the dark! this past year I tried to kill it several times with no luck and I think I may have been forgetting the key element..... black powder

hehehe man I got to see this

For those that have not flown the Aeroworks 35% 260 you really need to take a good look
just AWESOME!

If you were not at the 08 XFC it was beyond description on the fun scale!! Now we can put pyro on the aircraft! Oh yeah there is word of a few extra points for scaring the earth worm population at the AMA site! Kodak moment from Thursday-Sunday afternoon! Not many places you can go and need a break from the fun.
Hats off to the AMA and XFC panel for forward thinking and allowing pilots be creative with the night fly. It will be the event of 09. Hell it will be the event of the decade! Looking forward to it. Now I need to google some fireworks rigs
