G'day from down under.... I just joined the flying giants forums and really like the diversity of talent found here... So anyway heres a couple of my current favorite models. First is my Vailly Hurricane powered by an ST 4500. Next is my Fiber Classics Mig-15 bis powered by a Wren MW-54 SS, amazing aircraft is the Mig as the small Wren delivering just 18 lb thrust flies the 27 lb Mig very well indeed, there were plenty of sceptics doubting that it would ever fly on such little thrust, but she flies just fine with very scale performance with top speed of approx 110-120 mph. I just love both these models ![]() Cheers- Marty from Sydney, Australia. |

A few years ago, I was scouting out a hotel meeting room to hold a training seminar for our factory field service people. The hotel was near our factory in Hillsboro, OR and just a couple miles from the Hillsboro Airport. Everything looked great so we were finnishing up with the GM. He said that they catered to alot of the airshow performers when they came into town. Somehow the conversation came up that they had actually provided rooms for The Collins Foundation crews. The Collins Foundation has several warbirds that they tour around the country. They have a B-17 which they offer rides in and a B-24 called "A Dragon and his Tail". Being a major airplane nut I told him that I would give my left arm to fly in one of those! The GM then turned to me and said "Hey, I've got two spaces to fly this weekend on a promotional flight with the local radio station and the local Fox TV station and my friend backed out, do you want to come?" I was floored! I said of course I want to come! We drove to McMinnville, OR where the airplanes were. They had the B-17 and the B-24 there. I thought we were going to fly in the B-17 but it developed some mechanical issue. They loaded us into the B-24 into the waist gunners position. We then flew from McMinnville to Hillsboro which was about 50 miles. We never flew higher than a few thousand feet. We got to roam the entire aircraft with the exception of the ball turret. I sat in the tail gunners position which was totally awesome but way to tight for my extra large frame. When we landed, there were about 100 people to greet us and of course the news crews. I think I had a "permaGrin" for a week after that. | |||||||||||||||

| ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, after crashing my 2 most prized planes in less than 2 weeks of each other, I decided to take out some pent up aggression with the fuse from my 260 since it was going in the trash can anyways. I sure did feel a bit better afterwards. I mean, here's the other one, I'm sure EVERYONE heard and/or saw this one - ![]() I'm willing to bet I burned up the most $$$ for the month of May! |
