Do I have a budget? Yes, well, not being independently wealthy I guess I do. I wouldn't want to spend more than three and a half grand, and if I could spend closer to 2 than 3 that would make me happy. A smaller plane such as the 89" Slick has a lot of nice things going for it - cheap batteries, cheap ESC, possibility to use single servos on the ailerons etc. that all add up to big savings. The longest fuselage I can fit for transport would be about 97"; I can remove spinners and some planes I guess are designed to be able to remove the rudder which would reduce length a great deal. That's probably my main constraint - fuselage length for transport. I'd buy a trailer in a heartbeat however I have no place to store the trailer. |

I wonder if the Slick would fly well on 10S/10000mAh with a big three-blade prop (i.e. modest volts, high amps).. I've got lots of 5S/5000mAh packs. | ||||||||||||||||||

Well, it's been a while and I had been waiting for Extreme Flight 88" Extras to get back in stock (just cuz the 3DH isn't close enough to scale), when a good deal hit me on the head. Looks like I'll be converting a H9 35% Extra 260 to fly next year. 15S/10000mAh and a big Hacker or Plettenberg motor should do the trick.

I have flown basic in 4 contest this year and last with a Aw extra 300 100 cc with a hacker A100 196 kv running A123 9600 and Neu 6500 11 s2p for basic. i have timed several guys in Oklahoma in sportsman and the flights are about 8 1/2 min from start to landing . I have tried and the most i can get in the wind in oklahoma on sportsman is 1 .8 Seq about 7.45 min. my plane is about 32 pds AUW on 13500 ma 11s2p Neu. if I went to 12 s3p 15000 i would add about a pound so 33 pounds and add 10% flying time so about 75 sec would be close. I am using : AW extra 300 lightened Hacker A100 196 kv Mezjlik 27*12 TH Spinn 200 Neu 11s 2p 13500 FAST 2.4 a123 1100 RP Hitec MG digital |

The 3DHS 103" Extra 330 SC with a Hacker A80 and 12S 10,000 batt comes in at around 26-27 lbs. It has plenty of juice for sportsman for sure. Mine, with a DA85 and Pitts came in at just under 23 lbs without any mods required.

Any suggestion for a YAK or Extra 260 between around 75-78" wing span under 11.5 lbs. I would like to get one electric in this range. I fly Intermidiate.

3DHS makes a 70" Slick that is bigger than the wingspan indicates, It's around 9 lbs AUW electric with 6S 5000. As for Yaks and Extras, EF makes them in the 74-76" range, which comes in somewhere b/t 10-12 lbs with 10S 4000. That's probably the closest to what you're looking for. Yep, at less than 23 lbs, the 103" SC is the easiest 3D airplane I've ever flown. When I first flew this (my first gasser in such a long time), the hardest maneuver was landing, since at barely above idle, the plane would continue to fly . Anyone wanting to convert a 35% for IMAC should seriously consider this airframe.
