Not that the flights were not impressive.......just that they would have changed it up for this year.
Kick back and watch the videos while sipping on a cold beer. I am sure it will help ease your dissapointment.

Yeah I can't believe that the pilots didn't take the time to come up with new freestyle routines from scratch. (sarcasm) You are only expected to learn three known patterns, practice old patterns to brush up on your unknown practice every time you go out to practice. If you want a chance at doing well you have to practice at least 5 times a week for the entire month before the event. In doing that the airplane will need work after almost every practice session.
Freestyle routines take two seasons to truly polish to the perfection needed for a world level event. There is just not enough time before and deep down the pilots want to win the precision more than the freestyle. Of course this is opinion but if you ask the top pilots they want to win the precision. So that is what takes up 90% of there practice time.

Jason,
Normal people understand.

Some people just talk alot and fly sportsman their whole life too.

And, most of us are even more surprised that someboby didn't practice their beer chugging before a huge international event either.

I think that Chip has a valid excuse since his plane is old and, as far as I know, his only plane flyable for the TAS. However, I would love to have seen it fly in the Freestyle! As for the others, IMO, it seems as though they think they're too good to fly freestyle......

Read post 50. It has nothing to do with feeling like they are too good. They are world class competitors that won't compete unless they can perform their best.

QQ is down in argentina practicing for the F3A world Championship, or something like that. Same with Jason Shulman and Andrew Jesky.

No one needs an excuse not to fly freestyle. We all have our reasons to miss a round or the free all together. I'm sure when you provide us with planes for the freestyle only, we will make sure we're "not too good to fly"

Don't forget, the vids we saw here were from the 1st round. Usually pilots want to "get through" the 1st round, unless they have a low draw, and save the new stuff for the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Or, maybe they were too busy flying other events during the year to come up with something new.
