1. I like JR8411's. Can't help you out with the Hitecs but others will chime in here.

2. 42% products are supposed to be decent. I've read a few instances of the optic kill failing here on FG, do a search and research up on it, it may be nothing. I've always used either Electro Dynamic or Smart-Fly optic kills though with zero problems. But you can't go wrong with any of the 3 vs not having one. The ability to kill the engine without a servo is good for safety.

3. Personally I'd go twin. No difference in tuning other than the # of turns for High and Low needle might be different. But on a single or twin there is the same 2 needles. Twins tend to shake less and put out more power in a stock setup but cost a little more. As far as exhaust.......that depends on where you fly. If you ever think you'll fly at a noise sensitive field (which is likely in the SW) then I'd put some cans on it eventually. You can sometimes find used ones pretty cheap

please bear with me and dont expect a rapid build. kind of fell in my lap and well yeah, economy blows.
bear with me as this is a huge undertaking for me so ill probably have lots of questions.
i figure this is the best place to come for advice and guidance. dont really like the thought of plastering all over the forums and having to chase them all down at later. hopefully the pau community can help out with direction.

Glad you won this plane, I only had a couple of flights on mine so far but I really like it. I,t is living up to the feedback that everyone who has flown one, has said it would be.

i kind of think modular so this is my thought process on my steps and priorities of acquisition any feedback on my thoughts and order of merit list and items would be appreciated. due note that i am unable to use a "sky is the limit there shall be no expense spared get the latest greatest baddest" mentality to this

1. servos
2. electronics
3. engine and exhaust

1. servos: i have 5x 5645 servos here. since i have them and they exceed the manual required 150 oz i had planned on using these with a programmer for the ailerons. elevators i am thinking of getting 2x 7955 dont know if 5645 would work for the elevators. rudder a 7950 (i think they release in june) or an atx 94780m

I am thinking that if they exceed what the manual calls for, then they should work. As for the elevators and rudder, I am using Futaba 9156 (1 for each elevator and 2 for the rudder). So something close to that should work. Others are using other brands and are posted in this thread, so that may help you decide on what Hitec's will work.

2. electronics: i have a spare 42 percent optikill with me. i also use tanic a123 to power my other planes at the moment and have the cellpro charger and adapters so ill probably use those to power this one. a wolverine switch. not sure if i need a power expander or not. yes or no on the expander?

As for all gassers, a kill switch is always a good thing (IMO). I have never used the 42 percent optikill so I can't comment on it. I use the Smart-fly products (EQ6, kill switch, ign reg).

3. engine will be last. that way when it is time and if i get a new one over a used one the warrantery ticker will start then not a few months early. not really going to publicly ask brand x or y dont want to start a brand war. what i am thinking is whether i want to go twin or single. i have no experience with twins. hehe dont even know if they have to be tuned differantly then a single.

I would get a twin, I am running a DL100 with cans (since I am looking at competing and noise may be an issue at other fields). Others have used other brands and all seem good, just depends on which one you prefer. Tuning is no different than single cyl engines. Some have a single in this plane, but I think most prefer a twin over the single. Either one would be good, just depends on what you want to do with it.

well i guess that is enough for now

I know that once you get this plane built, you will enjoy it a lot.
