I flew the Edge today for its maiden and I was very impressed. It was very windy when I took off but the plane handled it flawlessly. Even with the wind the best description for thr first flight was "SMOOTH". It took one click of up elevator to trim it out. I did the usual loops, spins and rolls and I felt very comfortable right away. Landing in the wind was no problem I greased it in.
I waited a while before my next flight and the wind died down some. Snaps were crisp and stopped on a dime. Tumbles with the plane are awesome! I went up high and pointed it down and did a blender. The plane went into the inverted flatspin very smoothly and came right out when I was ready. Next I went into a wall, and the plane just stoppped in its tracks and hung there and then I started a torque roll. No surprises and the plane was very easy to handle. I pulled out of the torque roll and went into a rolling harrier. I went all around the field and felt very confident with it. Knife edge flight is nice. No pushing or pulling. Inverted flight took hardly any elevator input so I feel the cg is ok. I was a little concerned with the cg since I mounted the rudder servos in the tail on a push/pull and I have 2 servos on each elevator. I mounted the 2 5200 mah fromco;s and 1 2600 in front of the fuel tank and it feels good there. The DA 150 pulls the plane around with authority and as always ran flawlessly. I'm running a Mejzlic 30/12 and stock mufflers. Emcotec power distribution, 5955's on all surfaces, 8611A on throttle.
Now I can't wait for a calm day to get out with it. I am very happy with the plane. It flies awesome!
John

I've been out a few times now with the Edge and each time I'm more impressed. Harriers are rock solid and rolling harriers are great. I can't find a fault with the plane. Geat job PAU!

Thanks,
John

Hello Lozak,
I'm waiting on the new shipment to come in for my new 43%.
Is a 150 enough, or does it need a 170 ?
I'm a slow flyer and like the pull out power.

I FLY

IFLY, I have a DA-150 on cannisters and a PAU 32-3Db prop on my Edge, and I feel it is plenty of power for 3D flight. The plane jumps out of a hover pretty well and it doesn't lose much speed when I do a snap roll on a vertical upline. If I lived in a higher elevation area like Utah or Colorado I'd probably be wanting a 170 but down low the 150 does well for me. I'm also carrying around some extra weight from my wingtip sights, cowl airbrush job, vinyl decals, pilot, and smoke system, so keep that in mind.

A 150 will be just fine! Personally I'd put the 3W157CS in it if I had one......but that's me.

I have a 170 in mine, on cans with a 3 blade prop. In the winter and spring it felt like I had power to spare, but now with 90+ temps I feel it needs every drop of power In the up lines. That is especially true if I am cruising slow prior to the pull. Our field is about 1400 feet. My Edge weighs 43# 13 oz. I have smoke and lots of techno bling.

The 150 is plenty. I have no regrets. I have had people comment on how it yanks the plane around.

dalebush- I'm sure that has to do mostly with the 3 blade combined with the altitude.
