The airplane Ninja finished it up while I was working.

Ok sorry for the gap in the build thread. I got hired on a new job for the Army that requires me to be both civilian and military. Which means double PITA at times.

Nothing ground breaking as I finished her up. Mounting everything in stock locations I balanced out at the rear cabane with the DA 50. Here are a few pointers I will give to those putting it together:

1. Run your servo wires for your top wings before putting in the cabanes. I was special and ended up doing it afterward and had to enlarge the openings slightly.

2. Stock mounting guide works wonders but you can also stand the plane on the tail and get a perfect alignment with cowl and spinner.

3. You will have to trim the landing gear covers slightly to get them to fit. I attached them using a 4-40 nut and bolt.

To keep a more scale and clean appearance I decided to mount my fuel filler underneath the plane right in front of the vent line. I have to double check but right now I get maximum deflection using the stock hardware.

All the hardware is top quality and I think I might have only changed out one piece to my liking. DA 50 I think is the ideal way to go although the 3W 55 might find its way onto it.

I sealed everything using clear packaging tape cause I had it and it works. If you didn't notice in the earlier parts of the thread I was super careful about alignment and triple checking. I found that everything was how it should have been but I like to triple check.

Looking good Manny! I just hope the weather there is better than here!

I ended up removing the cabanes after they were installed and routed the servo leads and then re-installed the cabanes (I have a hard time making unnecessary holes in a new plane!).

I noticed after my last flight that I had a "spare" motor-mount bolt and washer floating around in the fuse! One of my tail wheel springs also fell off on the last flight (made it kinda hard to taxi !). I just finished re-installing the spring and loctiting all the motor bolts and getting her all back together. I can't wait to get her in the air again and have JohnVH snap some pics!

Let us know how the maiden goes Manny!

The Airplane Ninja is a bad dude. He is known to frequent places where young ladies between 18-25 gather in large numbers.

Did you see the holes I made? I just kinda enlarged the rear factory holes. Really not noticeable at all. On the RX battery I am only running a single A123 with a dual output switch to the RX. Have not weighed it yet.

Yeah the past couple weekends where there was a possibility of flying it was raining or work stuff came up.

Going through I thought I would post up a few more pics of the build process.
Here are a few more tips:

1. Route the servo wires through the wings using some string and a nut or something.
2. Tape over the holes for the cabane mounts so if glue gets out it sticks to tape (man I love tape)
3. Mounting the cabanes with the 4-40 bolts is easy but I recommend a smaller allen key wrench to get in there.
4. I also trimmed the top of the cowl slightly where it it was hitting the front two cabanes. Depending on your motor and stand offs you might not need to do this.

Sorry to hear about the weather out there. Yeah I was never a fan of springs and since the kit had plenty of pull-pull cable left over I just used that to control the tail wheel. Works just fine and does not cause any interference.

Down the road I want to get a FG spinner and paint it up to match the plane. A nice paint job on the prop to match the full scale plane would also be good.

I would like to thank Chris (Cspaced) and Jeff for sorting out my engine. The DA had a small carb issue the guru Jeff was able to figure out.

Should get out to flying Sunday.

So Manny, how did it go? Or did you not get the chance to go out yet.
