Oh some other news.

For some (but not many) who dont know it was Kirby's birthday this past weekend. Happy birthday you old bugger. If you dont know Kirby then you have missed out meeting one of the finest characters I have ever meet and shared time with.

Kirby, Miss Carol and Laura are the heart and soul of hospitality when you come to the Nall guys so if you dont know them personally take a minute and introduce yourself.

Miss Carol, Miss Laura, as always we are going to have a good roll up of Flying Giants Staff and members at the event and as always we are willing to help any place you need us.

Guys the Nall is one hang of a place and to me the true Mecca of RC. If your passing by or attending dont be afraid to put that Flying Giants hat or shirt on and offer to help out. It's an enormous task for the CAF members to put this on and I know the offer to help for a minute or an hour or two is something these fine people really appreciate.

See Y'all there now Y'hear.

If you were at last year's Joe Nall, you know how congested it is getting. If we have had one overiding concern from our participants, it has been the problems mixing 3D flying with everyone else. Additionally, we are hearing more and more from pilots that they don't get enough chances to
fly.

The new flight line, we think, will address both of these problems.

Here at the Giants, we tend to become a little bit "3D centric". Like it or not, 3D does not represent the majority in the scope of model aviation and the Joe Nall is here to cater to all RC flyers.

The Joe Nall letter and registration forms are now available on http://www.joenall.com. If you have registered in the last 3 years, you will probably receive this package by snail mail.

Every effort is being made to make the new flight line as inviting as the existing line. A new pavilion (that will put the old gazebo to shame) is under construction. Restrooms and shower facilities are also planned.

Obviously, for this to work, the new flight line will be 2.4 ghz only. And, to clarify, the new flight line will not be 3D only, but we are asking if you plan to fly 3D that you use this flight line.

We at the Joe Nall have always tried to be proactive. Not only as to safety concerns, but to the enjoyment and success of all aspects of such an event. Will there be some "teething" problems with the new set-up? Probably. Some logistics are still being worked out, but we feel that, all things considered, that we are moving in the right direction.

Just to clarify that I am reading right. 2.4 is ONLY allowed to fly at the new flight line or will they be able to co-mingle with 72mhz folks at the old flight line?

2.4 may fly on both flight lines ( and the lake).

That is not really fair to have 3d only at the far flight line,, most spectators would rather watch 3d and aerobatics than warbirds making patterns,, they should rotate it or something, that is not fair regardless of what is being flown ,, if the warbird guys were told to go down to the other end there would be hell raised and everyone knows it, ,

I like the idea of a dedicated 3D area. No more having to hover and screw around way out over the trees to stay out of the circle flyers pattern. It will make the logistics a bit interesting, almost like two independant fly ins, but I am all for accepting it. If it doesn't work out for some reason, I am sure the CAF will fix it for next year.

Sweet! Re: JOE NALL 2008

Hey lets give it a try ! At least the issues were addressed and an idea put in motion at a great expence. Doing nothing is the worst way to solve a problem. We have to start voicing confidance and not critisium. We will not know if it works or not until we try it.

PS I have started looking for a mini bike though LOL
