$30,000 buys a LOT of gas, TF. . that's what I'd have to spend for a new ride, at least. Lessee. . I get 13 mpg untrailered. At $4/gallon to save $30,000 over 5 years I'd have to make 18mpg and drive something like 400,000 miles in that time period. . .if I pick up 1 mpg with the $300 carburetor I just bought, it would take about 13,000 miles to make up the difference in fuel cost, so in 3 years or more I get the cost of the carburetor back in fuel savings.

You see??? When you amortize out the savings over how long it takes to break even. . it costs LESS to keep what you actually have. We won't go into the cost of insurance for new vehicles. . . .

To replace my 23mpg 300zx turbo, I'd have to get a 50mpg car that had payments of less than $60/month just to break even. Somehow that just does not seem financially feasible.

If my Dodge P-47 needs more range. . I'll just add some drop tanks. . . .

Being in shape, in this case, probably means how closely you resemble a simple geometric "shape" . .such as a sphere. . .
