Flip, If you want one battery to two inputs, I would use Smart-Fly's Super Switch. It has one HD Deans input and two standard receiver outputs. In my humble opinion, Smart-Fly makes some of the best power distribution equip around.

Yes-sir-eee, that's our setup on the 88" EF Yak we're finishing up. We've got the A123 battery with a Deans, going into a Smart Fly Super Switch with a Deans on one side and two futaba type plugs going out, into the receiver. By the way, the A123 is up in the cowl and hard to get at for charging, so, we're waiting on a 3 foot extension charging cable from FMA Direct. It's 3 feet long, and you plug one end of it into the little white battery charge plug, then run it into the canopy area for ease of charging. They're $9.95 I believe.

Flip and Fly, If you are only using one pack then the Wolverine is a waste, use the Smartfly switch. For no more weight than it is I would still use 2 switches just get dual battery outputs. If you use 2 packs then the Wolverine is my choise, absolutely no need for a powerbox UNLESS you need more channels. My last 35% I purchased a Power ex and after installing it went back took it out and installed reciever only, worked just as good. Smartfly makes good stuff but I didnt like the way the AR9000 has to be mounted as the wiring gets in the way of the antennas. Seems some are also keen to sell you some stuff. |

Yes two switches would be better if they don't have fail in the on position function. But who will make packs with dual output leads, I am not into making my own. I don't know why the Badger switch has a nice deans plug in but just one connector out to the receiver, seems two would be better and if it did I would just get one like that. If the Smart fly switch fails in the on position I think one would be fine for simplicity sake and would handle the load. I looked at the Smart fly web sight and its not indicated if they fail in the on position, does anyone know? Its all going in a 33% Ultimate with 6 5945s, one 5955 and two for throttle/choke servos. |

Wild Hare stocks packs with two output leads plus a Cellpro charge lead. I also keep switches in stock that have the Deans plug on the input. 2 swiches plus 1 pack = $99. Shipping from stock. TF |

Fromeco will make the switch how you want, you just configure it on checkout or call them. My lhs has em with deans in 2 jr out Nother option is to get 2 or 3 jr leads and solder them to a Deans plug, thats what I did with all mine as they were originally designed to go deans to the regulators which are now gone. For the switch to failsafe it has to have circuitry in it, the Smartfly is a heavier version of a JR/Cermark |

OK, this is what I want. You see I can go with one A123 pack with deans out to one fail safe switch with charge receptacle and 2 JR plugs to the receiver. Light, plain and simple with good power flow and then I can charge at the field without taking the wings off. Also with the Cellpro charger I can monitor how much juice is going in after say 3 or 4 flights and this way keep tabs on battery performance. Thanks for all the help folks, I have seen the light Last edited by Flip and Fly; 01-01-2008 at 11:14 AM. |

Flip, We can offer the packs with dual outputs if you want them that way, The SF switch does NOT fail in the ON position. They are about as bullet proof as you can get though. We also stock the CellPro chargers. Let me know what we can help you with. Chad

In the future, get the A123 packs with JR connectors as the balancing leads. Then you can just use a standard servo extension to make the balancing leads as long as you need them. We offer them this was on our website. All you will need then is a JR to CellPro converter cable (which we also sell )Chad

Chad, very good point. When I ordered our A123's, I didn't realize there was a choice of balancing/charging connectors. The next ones will have the JR type connector which will make charging much easier. Thanks.

Well then what I could do is just order the packs with dual JR leads with 18 gage wire ( no deans) and just hook them up to my existing dual switches. They are JR HD switches and this would be good enough current flow for a JR 2.4 system, right? I was using dual 2700 ma Nimh packs ( I know bad internal resistance but they worked for me in parallel) for redundancy but I have never had a battery failure soooooo, this will save me about 10oz The A123 packs are reliable from what I see.Thanks. | ||||||||||||||||||
