Hi, I just recently got a used RTF 35% Troy Built extra 260. It had been sitting for 2 years so far. I'm sending the DA 100 out for a check up and I need to get new batteries for it. It had 2 1750 nicad or nimh and 1 1150 for the ignition. I think they are nicad's but I'm not sure. I'm just curious what all of you are running for your big planes. I would like to get something from Tanic if I can, but I want to know what are the best and such. Thanks, Jordan

FROMECOS!!! get 2 2400 mah's for 2 recivers, if your running 2 recivers. Then get a 2400 mah for ignition. then just buy 3 fromeco regulators.

| For a 35% I really don’t think it is necessary for the two receivers. If it was a 40% that would be different. But I run 2- 2800mah lithium’s and regs from troy built on one receiver. Then you can either run a NiCad on the ignition to just lessen the chance of a reg failing, or just run a 2800 on the ignition with a reg. www.Troybuiltmodels.com Prime_Time |

| Jordan, I run Duralite and Fromeco, but I think the Tanics should be fine, I know that my friend Zak at www.3DBatix.com has Tanic in his plane with Smart fly regulators. Just make sure that you isolate them very well from vibration since they are Li-Poly. I think the 2500 or 3650 should work fine with any kind of regulator. You can run two packs on a single receiver, just plugging the regluators into the battery slot and one into an auxillary channel. Hope that helps, Brandon |

Sorry if I'm off base here guys but if you are referring to flat Lithium Polymer packs like you use in your foamies and bigger electric birds then in my humble opinion you are courting disaster. Those flat LiPo packs has zero tolerance for vibration, I mean none. Its not that the pack fails but those thin aluminum strap style connectors fail and break. The packs are physically fine but the way they are constructed is not intended for gas engined airplanes. FACT!!! There are hundreds of ways to skin a CAT, the same applies to RC electrics. In a 35% sized airplane I would go for two FROMECO 2400 packs into a Smartfly dual regulator. Then into a Power expander. That way you are reducing a lot of hardware, with this setup its a single switch and its all on or off. The switch is failsafe to on. Its very light, its extremely robust and its dang neat when installed. Heres a picture of a setup I had in a 2.3 C-ARF extra. The C Volt is also worth its salt as the SF regs are adjustable so you can set the voltage to what ever you want. | |||||||||||||||

I would use two receivers, switches, and two 2,400 fromeco packs. I have many friends flying 35% planes setup this way and its working really good. The only weight your adding over a single receiver setup is the extra receiver and your never going to notice the difference. You will notice the difference though if one decides to take a dump on you and your plane is not able to fly. Garrett Morrison |

Gotta go with Kiwi's reccomendation here. He got me using the dual turbo reg and expander from Smartfly and I'm absolutely loving it. I've got two 2400 fromeco's going into it. It's truly one of the most redundant, failsafe systems I've used yet.

I might be a little Biased, but I would go with Fromeco. I called them up today, and They were amazingly helpful and very customer courteous. They stand behind their product, and it IS a great product. -Taylor-

Go with two fromeco packs, 2400's will be fine into one rx. I personally wouldnt bother with 2 recievers. If one batt fails then so does that receiver. But in a single rx setup you wouldnt even know that you lost a batt till you were on the ground. Besides, I would like to know how many radio failures are blamed on the rx when it is more likely to have been a switch or batt failure, but because there is such a mess its blamed on the rx. I wrap my rx up like I would a crystal vase in heaps of foam and then tape the crystal in. |
