Planning on running my antenna wire thru the center belly of the fuse to the outside, then run it along the outside belly of the plane back as long as it will go and spot hot glue it about every 12' or so. It seems to me running the wire in this way will get better reception since it's on the outside and will be virtually unseen and also not interfere with any internal gizmo's I have installed. Does this make sense or am I missing something? I never seen any planes wire running like this. This will be going in a composite 2.6 m extra 300sx.

I'm no aerobatic flyer but it seems to me that aerodynamics are very important to this type of aircraft. Running your ant. on the exterior will not only interfer with your slip stream, but upon landing, if that wire catches on something, could tear your whole ship apart. I've never heard of anyone having trouble with signal reception just because the ant. was internal unless the fus. was carbon fiber. More often it was interference. As long as ant. is streched out completely (not crossing or laying over itself) you shouldn't have any problems. As far as interfering with internal gizmos, glue in a tube the length of the ant. and run the ant. thru it. It doesn't add any significant weight. and keeps things tidy!! Hope this helps. RADRICH

Buzzard. You likely wont have any problems doing it that way but the 2.6 fuselage is not carbon fiber and I have always run my antennas internally. I like to run it down one side inside an antenna tube so if you ever need to remove the rx you dont need to go picking hot glue off to do so. If you really want it outside then run the antenna tube out and along the belly again so the wire is removeable if needed. If you do run it inside keep it as far away as possible from the rudder pull pull cables and any elevator servo cables you may be running. Hope this helps a little mate. Thanks guys. Always trying to reinvent the wheel here! Unless anybody else has any other comments on the subject will go with a tube and wire it inside the fuse. Can't wait to fly this thing!!
