Question Futaba FP R 148DF Receiver Problem

I posted this question on RCU's manufacturers support section, but would like to throw it out here to get some different input. There's time that BAX don't get around to answering or answers are somewhat lacking, ( wish Ann Marie was still there)
I have a Futaba receiver - FP R148DF that is around one year old. It has only been in two planes for very short times with no crashes or bumps. I was installing this receiver in an airplane that uses two retract servos (JR 791) on channel 5, the servos failed to do anything, not even a buzz. I tested using another JR retract servo that worked perfect, then tested with Futaba 3004's, 3305, and 3151 on same channel. They worked fine, today I took the servos to a hobby shop to test on a JR system, they worked perfect, after returning home I replaced the receiver with a 7 Channel Futaba receiver and the JR791's worked perfect. Is there some difference in the R148DF and 127(7 ch) receivers?

Each of the JR 791's were connected directly to the receiver one at a time to ch 5 , outside fuse and laying on table top. Using a Futaba 9CAP.

Got a reply from Futaba's support (if you want to call it that) sure wish that Ann Marie was still there. Danced around this and that about what it could be, I called there support number and was greeted by a very rude and gruff not our problem tech. With support like this I think its time to look at the new Spektrum or go ahead and shift to JR.

Just so you know, if you have problems with a JR radio and non-JR equipment (other servos, even batteries) their stock response is that they cannot tell you anything except to use JR equipment. This is pretty standard. Most companies generally are not going to help you use other products not made by them. JR may be more friendly about it, but I assure you that if you called them up nd said I can't get these Futaba servos to work with my JR radio they would tell you to use JR servos and give them a call if you still have a problem.

Not saying it makes it all OK, and it does not solve your issue, but it is more or less the way things are in the hobby industry.

Judge, your right and I really should have expected that reaction. Just came back from the Dr. office with more bad new and was in real bad mood. But by same toke you would almost expect a little effort to explain why something does or does not work. Thanks

Well, I saw the post on RCU where Krysta said that they have heard of instances where the use of a "Y" with some non-Futaba servos is a problem. She mentioned to send the RX in for them to check to make certain it is OK.

What additional actins would you see as necessary to satisfy you? I don't want that to be as harsh as it sounds. But what more do you desire from them at this point??

I suspect that there is something funny with that particular servo and the Futaba equipment. Although I have never come across an instance of this myself. I have run 148DF and 148DP RX's with just about every brand of servo you can imagine. JR 241, 281, 3241, 368, 8411, 8611, Volz, Multiplex, FMA, Graupner, and few other very obscure brands. I have never had a problem. So go figure.

But since you RX works with other servos, I doubt it is the radio/RX itself. Sounds more like something caused by the interaction of that particular servo and the radio.

It's a weird one to be sure!!

PS - I hope the medical news is more of an annoyance versus something significant. Good luck wither way.

Got an answer to problem (I think) about using the JR 791 servos. Seems the servo has a problem working on 6v batteries. I tried the 148 on the retract servos using a 4.8 battery and even tho the pack was weak the retracts worked perfect. Thanks for all the input.
