Does anyone know the difference between these two receivers? From the TH description, they seem to be the same. I've heard that the 5014 is more sensitive to noise?

The short story is that the 5014 is more precise, faster (I think) as well as sensitive to noise (just the nature of that precision). The 5014, along with 12Z or 14MZ software updates will have the option for mode "A" - which is the same as the 5014, or mode "B" which is less precise, a little slower (I think, again) as well as more resistant to R/F or 'noise' - this is my layman's understanding from reading long and complex write-ups on the topic. I use 5014's in my 40% planes with great success and satisfaction - of course extensive pre-flight range testing is highly recommended with any new radio system, or new location.

The 5114 is just as precise as the 5014. The 5114 is the replacement for the 5014 and the only difference is that the 5114 allows for a second mode that is less sensitive to noise, but is slightly slower than PC2048, but is faster than PCM1024. AFAIK, the 5014 does not have the two modes. I am using both rx and both respond identically. I did notice that my 5114 powers up faster than my 5014; meaning that all of the 5955 servos in my 40% get power at the same time, where as there was a slight delay in my 5014. Additionally, I was getting RF interference in my SuperXtra with the 5114 in mode A, but when I switched it to mode B I had no more interference issues. BTW - The 5014DPS has been discontinued according to Futaba. |

I sold my 5014's and went to the 5114 after becoming nervous about putting them in the new 260. I had had a few issues with the 5014's in my Comp ARF Giles and was starting to see more and more issues popping up on the net etc with them so went for the 5114 on mode "B" straight up for the new 260. 10 flights so far and not a prob. I believe mode "B" is meant to be about 70% the speed of mode "A"
