Well we came up with this and as far as we can see it does not touch. The JR way seemed to chafe on the gimbals itself Last edited by Panzlflyer; 08-19-2008 at 10:53 PM. |

Opened up my year old 9303 2.4 and found wire insulation cut. I taped up the cuts temporarily, but I like some of the other fixes. This was the first time the case was opened, also.

Brian, That's exactly what I came up with. No binding or chaffing. Glad to see someone else has done that to. ![]() Pazelflyer called me yesterday to tell me of the problem. I had very little wear on mine but I'm a Warbird pilot. My sticks don't get thrashed around as much as the flip-flops. BTW, I did use some 400 grit sandpaper and lightly sanded the razor sharp edges of the reg. just in case. Kelly | ||||||||||||||||||

I WENT WITH ULTIMATE1'S FIX, I'D RECOMMEND THAT. I did goo the wire bundle into the springy retainer to further ensure it didn't creap toward the center of the transmitter where the danger is. I've got about 100 hours on my transmitter and it was just cutting through the insulation on the black wire. I goo'd up the wire where it was breaking through the insulation as well. I do think it is better than the JR fix. I just had to find a very short screw with a somewhat wide head... Way to go !

the existing screw seemed to be too long, and I didn't want to grind it down. about half as long as it is would be fine. I was afraid to try to tighten it down after it started to get snug feeling and still had a ways to go.

Gents, Thanks a bunch for this info. Just opened it up (bought last September) and it has just started to eat up on the insulation of the blue wire. I followed Ultimate's cure and all is well now. BTW, I need to know if I have Ultimate's permission to duplicate his method in our own website here in Greece. I don't want to cause unwanted grief or charged of stealing someone else's work. Thanks again guys! |

Here is the fix I used on my X9303.. I installed 4" Zip tie ( 101.6 MM for you metric guys ) to the wire mount and trimmed a small chamfer on the edge of the plastic housing. My wire was cut just a tad but had no exposed wires.

Brian, from your photo it looks like there is no slack in the wires for up elevator. Frank P.S. JR's fix worked just great for me. Plenty of slack and little flexing of the wire bundle. |
