We have a fuse! Today I got to sit down and work on the fuse a bit. I got about 90% of it glued up and drying now. It looks like I should be able to have it done today along with some of the wing sheeting. her are some pics

HI Rob, Looks good. It's obvious that you like to move about the build a bit. Personally I would have had to complete the wing first before I moved on to the fueselage. Obviously a case of different strokes for different folks. :-) How long do you think it might take to get to the covering stage? Regards, Dave |

Yeah I move around a good bit depending on time and interest. I actually was working on the wing also while the glue was setting up on the fuse. It helps to have a big building board. not sure about time-frame to covering. I may end up re-building the ailerons, not sure yet. the fuse will be ready to cover after today, as will the rudder, horiz.stab, and elevator. there is still a good bit of work to do on the wing, so we will see. progress is being made.

Hi Rob, Yes, it always takes longer than you expect. I have had a short break from designing the new Striker and created the attached engine. If I am not doing work for clients I find it keeps me sharp to model something that is a bit of a challenge. I suppose it is actually quite relevant to this web site anyway. I have just the needle valve spraybar to finish off and the design is complete. This is another example of it always takes longer than you first think. I shall be watching your progress with keen interest. Have a good week. Dave Last edited by esc; 07-27-2009 at 06:26 AM. |

Good looking engine Dave!! Sorry on the lack of progress, I ran into a slew of car troubles with my wifes car and had to get them taken care of. I am hopefull that I can get back to work on it Thursday evening. Since we are slow at work I found some (buisy work) to do. here is one of my designs I have been refining for almost a year. I am going to be producing these on my cnc and selling them. All that's left is to write the Manual and find boxes to ship them (any Ideas, sources??). This is the second kit I will be manufacturing with more to come. The pic dosen't hace any of the CF and wood in it yet but you get the idea. AUW comes in at 3.6-4.4 oz depending on eqip.

Looks good Rob, is it based on a Sukhoi 31 or perhaps the Yak 55 SP? I look forward to seeing a completed plane :-) Why don't you post your design in this CAD section? As far as suppliers go, unfortunately I can't help you - being in the U.K. anyone I might know would be pretty useless to you. I wish you luck with the project and ask that you to keep me informed of your progress. Re the engine - Thanks for your kind words. I finished the assembly this evening. The reason I created it was not just for fun (honest), it was an excercise in reverse engineering to illustrate a point on my web site. I have now returned to the new Striker design and am making headway on the fuselage. Nothing wrong with the older software - at least most of the bugs have been ironed out - wish I could say the same for Inventor 2010. I can't wait to see if the first service pack sorts some of the anomalies and problems I have found. You don't need to worry about a lack of progress on the plane, none of use can devote the time we would like to the more interesting things in life. The boring stuff always finds a way of intruding. Just relax and take your time and please don't put yourself under any deadline pressure - there isn't one. Regards, Dave Last edited by esc; 07-29-2009 at 05:32 PM. |

Dean, Thanks for the compliments, Yep they float really good, but kick a$$ in 3d. It also will fly precision pretty good. I will be offering it milled for ultimate light weight and unmilled for those who need a little extra strength for impacts.
