That's why you have to wipe it down at the field. Can't leave it until you get home. I have a H9 P-51 that's covering is turning to crap now. But I have over 250 flights on it. My big glow planes are not nearly as bad as the small glow engines. But you still have some mess.

I have to admit , the Moki 210 is really a dry running motor. Or at least there does not seem to be much residue at all on the plane after a day of flight.

I have a little K&B sportster .65 that I am breaking in (long story) But it looks as though it was raped and dry humped by a pack of monkeys. By the time I am done with it the thing is completely covered with lather. Not good

Moki video of a one flip start! But I'd rather flip a few times and skip the clean up any day. Like I said before, if your flying a 27% plane it's hard to beat a Moki for power and weight ratio.

Here's a video of my goo plane, I mean glow plane. Mark Trent won't let me use my glove any more to start it. I sure miss my old winter mit!

ok heres my 2 cents. my mokis after a good prime i flip with the spinner and instance purring. never do i have a problem. on the other hand iam getting ready to madien my first gas plane, so i went down to get the gas and before i could get home the gas was comming out of the cap spilled on to the carpet and now i can hardley get in to my plane van it stinks so bad. but i wont let this stop me. i did realize not to fill it so much. down here in fl its hot and the gas just starts expanding. so there are good and bad. if you spill glow its not like splling gas. and dont even think of bringing a gas plane into the house . but glow no problem . oh yea my glow motors are set it and forget it. i never have to tweak the motors after set up. but then i know how to haha

A-Glow fuel takes longer than 30 seconds to clean. And when you do "clean" it, it gets under the covering and into the wood and joints.
B-Gas, $3.00 mixed, with oil VS $18.00 glow fuel
C-Gas is more reliable for me personally, no flame outs in inverted flat spins for 20 seconds, no loading up in other words.
D-Less support supplies... ie, glow ignitors, starters(for my big glow, I am scared of the 20" APC props).
E-Better resale of motors.. just look at any DA
F-Smoke!

Gasoline also has a higher energy density than glow, so gas engines sip fuel. My DA 50 only uses about 1 ounce per minute at WOT, while my YS 110 sucked up over an ounce a minute and is less than half the displacement (about 40%). I never really ever got my glow planes clean, either.

I agree but what you are not seeing is if you only fly 27-30% planes, you really don't have a choice. Now if I build any bigger plane then I would buy a DA. I have been thinking about a 50cc gas plane. That would have a DA. I'm no cheerleader for big glow motors, but they have there nitch.
