Hey guys, I am wondering, why are so many people considering gas so much better than glow? I mean I can get my glow motor started in 1 flip, and it starts and purrs every time, not one miss yet. And I see some people needing to flip their prop 5-7 to prime and another 2-3 to start... ![]() Im confused to know so many people don't like glow, sure theres the oil to wipe us, but that only takes 30 seconds. Maybe it's just me but oh well, so what are you guys opinion? Thanks LeBlanc |

Whoa, 30 sec for an oil wipe. And you're saying you always start that glow in 1 flip, wow. How often do you have to tune that engine, it's cold out, tune me, it's hot, tune me.... ETC. usually when you get gas right you can almost forget it. Far less headaches if you ask me. |

I guess if you do alot of flying...i'd rather pay 2.00 a gallon for gas instead of 20.00 a gallon for glow..make's sence to me why not to run glow.

Well, the fact that glow costs $20-$25 a gallon versus $2.50 for a gallon of gas, plus the fact that there's no glow engines for planes above 25%, and that it would cost about $5-$10 a flight for a big glow engine for a 35% plane or bigger, I can't see why gas is better.

Cleaning that dang slime off the plane is one. The cost of a gallon of gas compared to the cost of a gallon of nitro is another. If you have ever tried to keep a OS160 feed with nitro you'll see the cost of nitro VS gas in a hurry!!! |

Bigger airplanes fly much more smoothe, Gas is the best fuel for the size of the planes. Would you want to wipe slime and transport the ammount of glow fuel to fly 1 weekend at a big event flying a 150.

I Hate Glow Leblanc. Too much slime to clean up. That is reason enough for me! Not to mention you are limited to 27% planes with a glow system. On the flip side , you are right if you are considering putting a gas engine onto a 56" plane. The technology does not allow for a very practical powerplant as compared to a glow motor. It would be too heavy and cumbersome. Each has an advantage in it's particular use. Mark |

I'm happy with my Moki's, but I would like to have a 50cc plane that was gas. My moki's do run really well. But break in is a b. As they get older they get a little better on mileage. Plus I fly 27-30% planes. I fly'm for the weight advantage.

Another thing is a the lifetime of a airframe. I haven't seen too many glow planes make it past a handful of seasons. The slime works it's way under the covering and soaks into the wood. Then it all goes to hell. Neo |

you say we have to flip the prop 5-7 times to start it, and you say it takes you 30 seconds to clean off the sludge your glow plane leaves behind. if im correct the cleaning you do makes up for the flipping we do...
