There are many US furniture companies that are using the Robertson screws now.

I can just imagine being at the field with the canopy fastened down with torx, or security torx, and either misplacing the driver, or your buddy accidently places it into his tool box, and goes home for the day.

Anybody have a Security Torx T-11?

Your words are pure blaspheme Mr. Freddy. I never leave the house without a set of Torx. Try ripping apart a Compaq server in the freezing tundra of a datacenter without one. Us techies know what's up

Funky tiny screw with frozen fingers in the middle of nowhere. I didn't know you were a member of the IMAC (Improvise Make do Ad-lib Concoct) Club to.

JIS is Japanese Industrial Standard. I keep a set of these in the shop and they come in really handy. Lots of heli guys use them, they fit the screws on their birds much better and with the maintenance that most of them do it keeps the hardware in good shape. Got mine from Central Hobbies http://centralhobbies.com/Tools/jis.html

A lot of the cheaper type screws strip because they are poorly formed, from less than optimum material. Sometimes it's just because we try to tighten them too much...

I haven't seen Reed and Prince screws for a while, last time was on a full size P-40 Warhawk.

The Robertson stuff is interesting, hadn't seen that before.

Craig.

There are two different types, most times you get away with it using the wrong one but there is a Japanese standard, JIS I think it is and the more common SAE as we know it.

The real difference just so happens to be in those servo screw heads. Those pesky little buggers are more often than not the JAP standard.

some one who has a video camera (I don't) needs to get a bunch of different size screw drivers and different size screws and take a test video of how the wrong size screwdriver strips the screws.

I would use my video camera but AVI sucks to much. quote: "Why I can't REED!" "heeyuk heyuk yuk"

Personally, I prefer to use a staple gun to hold my Hatch on. Never had one come off in flight.
