Help...Need Funraising Idea's!

Hey Everyone, I have just started a new project for a school Trip! The Project involve's raising money for hospital's, school's and in general, the less fortunate!
I am in 4th Year in my school and will be going to Kenya, being involved with the Holy Ghost Fathers and giving money in order to help them! This will be a hard trip to go on but I feel I can do it!!

The plan is to Raise a lot of money for the poor living in the Slum's over in Kenya! I will be going over there in May 2008, along with 18 other students and 3 teachers!

I personally want to make an impact with what I can raise and know all of you can be a really big help! Last year's trip raised over 10,000 euro for these people and now know it makes a REAL difference!

Anybody have any idea's of Fundraising that could be done! Or even make some small donations! I am not asking alot but what happens with this trip, gives a lot!
Please post here with idea's or email me if you want to donate something small! If not I fully understand, but I know a few of you will help out!!

Here is an idea for you.
You will have to ask eBay if they will let you do it.
Sell certificates "YOU HELPED A CHILD IN KENYA" for $5 each buy now. x 100 000 certificates. That could net $500,000

You can only ask eBay to help all they can do is say no.

And you would need a Pay-Pal account.

also talk to large coorperations. i am helping raise money for the county dive team i am on we need 38,000 for a radar system and a company that is well known world wide has said if we raise 19,000 they will donate the second half. so it is tax season and right offs help and calling never hurt any one. good luck man hope you do well

I don't want to sound like a pessimist, but you could talk the other 18 students and 3 teachers into NOT taking the trip and donating the $$ that the trip would have cost you could probably double your goal. Say the trip costs 500 euro a person (probably way conservative). 22 people * 500 is 11,000 euro. Then you add up the donations that all of the people receive and you can double what your goal was. The downside is that you don't get the experience out of it but the good side is that you get to help twice as many people. Just have to decide whats more important.

I applaud your sacrifice and commitment! I have been involved in international projects for 20 years now. I now work with an organization that built and supports a clinic north of Nairobi. We are also working to establish a clinic in southern India.
In conjunction with these long term projects we often take short term teams to these countries. If I could I would mandate that all Americans from age 16 and up go on one of these trips at least once. People really do not understand the plight of the impoverished from reading reports or seeing it on TV. You begin to understand when seeing it first hand. It changes your heart.

In answer to the gentleman who proposes not going and sending the money. Money is not the ultimate answer. I too once thought this way. However, after experiencing projects in some of the poorest places in the world (Haiti, India, Kenya, Ecuador, Guatemala, Philippines) there is a real impact that people have on other people that money cannot buy. I have seen people energized, given hope, motivated, and making positive change not by money given to them but by people coming and working hand in hand with them.

Thanks for the reply but I don't really think it was a very good suggestion! It has been organised by the school for us to witness first-hand the meaning of poverty! You might not know where it was going if you sent it! The money will be sent in advance and set to good work before we get there! This we can see what is going on!
I personally want to go because I have heard it is a once in a lifetime chance to see this!
As said in the comment below, It changes you heart forever! I want this to happen so I am going to do everything in my power to help out and raise as much money as possible!

I have a meeting tomorrow of the Kenya trip!
Need to get idea's and donations going at this stage! Hopefully will get some good fundraisers going before and through Christmas, well thats my hope! Jack

Meeting was good today! People came up with ideas that we could sell within in the school but I want to spread this idea outside! I had these ideas to sell to some people! Its nothing too expensive at all so if you are interested please post a reply!
Has to be soon though because the all the money raised is going out at Christmas time and put to good work!
Heres my ideas:
1: a neck strap for your TX with a Flying Giants logo and some sort of title we will give to the Kenya appeal! Wont be expensive just ALL money raised(if there is an interest) will go to a good cause!

2:a good T-shirt with the FG logo and again the Kenya title! You could wear this anywhere and prove that you helped someone who was in desparate need in Kenya!
