Just wondering who on this forum rides sled during the winter months. Here a pic of my 2004 ski doo 600X. Not a great winter for riding this year but oh well.

Long time ago, back in the 80's and 90's when I lived in Philly and we had a place in the Pocono's. Being 40 now I'd rather have a year long flying season though ![]() I was into Ski Doo's as well.

I have 6 sleds. All older than 1978, some as old as 1965. My place in Rusk Co. WI. , has a marked trail on the road that feeds the major trail system in WI. However, we mostly stick to our own acreage trails, and explore some of the remote parts of the Cheomugoun (I know I spelled that wrong) Forest that only have access from our lands. The crazy drunken whoop-ass , gotta go to every bar and die sledders are what we try to avoid. Inevitably, broken down sledders , some drunk , end up walking up our road looking for help. We have a box marked for them outside , with an emergency radio , and directions, and map. Still, in the middle of night , it is not uncommon to have that knock on the door. Love the snow, and you just don't know the sheer terror/joy/fun of riding in a made to order pull behind drone sled, pulled by a snorting 1965 Evinrude snowmobile, until someone dares you to go for a ride . Antique, completely low tech fun. My only sled I consider a Hot-Rod is my Yamaha 440 ...and we use THAT for hauling wood. |

It's the middle of February and it's going to be close to 80 degrees here in Conroe, Texas. I think I saw a snowmobile once........ I'm not sure. Anything below 70 degrees around here is considered "a massive cold front moving into our area!" Ski Doo and Evinrude around this part of the country pull your sunburned little self across Lake Conroe at a high rate of speed. WT |

Here's mine: '04 Polaris Pro-X that's been slightly modified: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() She's quite a sled...with the engine mods she's pushin' right at 175 HP. Here's some pics from Island Park, ID a couple of weeks ago. It was an epic few days, we were playing in 4' to 5' of powder. Stock sleds were stuck sleds. ![]() ![]() The ones above are of me with a busted trailing arm. Fortunately, these are Alternative Impact arms, so they have a break-away section in the middle of them that lets me make a quick swap, and off we go. Here's a pic of the one that I broke, with the new breakaway (the silver part). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Broke my back on snowmobile 3 years ago. My sled was a 2000 MXZ 700. Neither of us faired to well. Drainage ditches and speeds exceeding 100 miles an hour don't mix so well. I never crashed but the impact broke my back and broke the frame on my sled right by the front suspension. This is probably one of the main reasons I got into RC planes. My back doesn't like riding any more, sleds or bikes.
