It would probably work well if you used covering with a paper backing like Ultracote. I don't think that Monocoat would work with the plactic backing. Another thing that you would have to watch is cutting pressure just like switching between different types of vinyl. This is something I have considered doing but have never tried.

Yeah... Chris (evil rc) tired it as I got sick of cutting checkers... the ultracote pulls off of the backing when it cuts.

Josh,
I tried it too and zero luck. If they could make it stick to the backing it might work but would be a PITA to pull off after it was cut. Now a water jet would work, I hear some ARFs covering is done with them.

It's possible to do it. I think the secret is to put some heavier backing paper on it, but I don't know, I've never tried. Also, make sure the blade is cutting at the correct depth for the covering.

Chris

Like Matt said, I tried it with no luck. You've seen what happens when you lift ultracote and monokote off of the backing paper - it starts to roll up on itself. Once the blade starts slicing up the covering it lifts right up off of the backing and gets chewed up from the motion of the vinyl cutter.
