On my composite plane I just use clear packing tape. Have had it on for a year and a half and thats with using smoke and theres no hint of it peeling up yet. It's not very thick and I cut it so that it's not much bigger than the wing. It protects really nice and is really hard to see that it's on the plane unless your looking for it.

How about 3M tape, the kind they put on the hood of your vehicle to protect it from rock chips. Should be able to get some from an automotive paint/autobody store.

If you build a bridge/support from skin to skin where the wing bolt is, it stops the fuse being pulled into the cavity between the skins. This seems to reduce the rubbing.

If someone did the CAD work, and made the wing shape needed, I bet Zang or one of the other vinyl shops could cut some clear vinyl that would be 1) a perfect fit, 2) durable!
