Civil Engineer, Structural to be specific, worked in engineering (site planing) for about 6 years, got tired from wearing a suit so went on my own, construction for 2 years and for the rest I have been in the export business, mostly exporting used cars, I also own a gas station which I ran for 2.5 years, currently it is rented so if you have any questions about the gasoline business, ask me like which brand is better for your car or how much money they make etc.

Shawn
They make very little from gas, it is the big companie that make the huge profit on the gas way before it gets to the pump, it use to be the other way around, they make their money from the store or garage.
Not sure if this is related to the FG Handy Man Help Thread! I could be wrong.

I work as a Diesetter and Setup man in the hot division of a tube mill. We make various sizes of black coated gas pipe and galvanized hot dipped conduit pipe from 1/8" to 1". I am responsible to keep machines running for having cut and finshed ends on all pipe. I also setup threading machines to thread pipe. We ship plain and threaded pipe. And man, can we ship plently of it too. I often wonder where it all goes. With every railroad car out the door, there is ruffly 35 miles of pipe with certain sizes. We also ship by truck.

I haven't been alive long enough to have a large amount of experience in any one field, however, my father owns a small company that does doors and finish hardware in commercial buildings. We don't do really do aluminum storefront doors, or any overhead doors, but anything else goes. We do toilet partitions, and have been known to do some cabinetry. He's been a licensed general contractor in NC and VA for 20 some odd years now, and he's been slowly teaching me the ropes. He was also a superintendant for several construction companies, so he's been around the block a time or tweleve in that regard. I work for him part-time and go to school full time.

I attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and am currenly pursuing a BS in Business Administration, possibly a double major in ISOM, not quite sure at the moment. I do know that I will be getting my MBA, and maybe getting a language degree (Russian or Spanish) when I go back for graduate work. I am also working on my real estate license and will have to get my broker's license as well, as North Carolina is going to an all broker state. I am going into custom home building/land development/real estate/property management. I love houses and construction is like aviation, in my blood. I'm a Junior in school right now, so I've got another year and a half or so, depending on how fast I can get out of school before I'm ready to work full time. If professional students got paid as good as working professionals, I'd do that, I love school.

It's interesting to see the diversity of fields in which people work. It's a good way of getting to know people, and all of the FG guys are worth knowing, IMO.

I own a foundation and concrete forming company. I was a concrete finisher for 6 years specializing in stamped concrete and concrete counter tops. I will be moving up to parkades and reservoirs next year. Not that it will help anyone but before that I was a blaster (explosives) specializing in seismic blasting.
