Hello, my girlfriends computer has some sort of virus I belive. If she runs a virus scan it shuts down about 30 mins into the scan. Same thing if she run spybot search and destroy. Any ideas on how to get rid of this virus? I have been running Avast and it seems to destroy more virus's than norton so I had her try that and its doing the same thing. Garrett Morrison |

Ok, we ran the stinger program and the computer is not shutting down and we cant pull up any virus's but now its acting weird in internet explorer. She can go to websites but then cant click on things like login's links ect. I had her download firefox for now so she could work on some school projects. We updated her computer with internet explorer 7 but its still not working. Any ideas? Garrett |

I had a similiar problem with mine and a friend came over and installed a program called Symantec Antivirus. You then have to disable the restore feature of your computer then run the program. It cleaned my computer clean. You have to disable the restore feature first when you run an anti virus program so it cleans everything. He said the restore feature does't really work that well anyway and advised me just to keep it disabled and run the anti virus program periodically. By disabling the restore feature built into the computer, it doesn't affect anything or harm anything. It just keeps your computer from restoring an infected earlier saved store. (The computer runs this restore feature on its own). This was all per what my friend told me as I am not a computer whiz but it worked great and my computer is okay now. He told me that if that hadn't of worked, I would have to have saved my things on a CD then reboot windows. Hope this helps and good luck.

No one knows about this system but in the history of its production it has never missed a virus. Try the NOD32 at the computer store. It works superbley.

Garrett, There is a program called "Hijackthis.exe". It's a tool that can get rid of any virus issue but you really need to know what you are doing. It is not very intuitive, and really powerful, you can hose your computer if used incorrectly. If you want to give it a try, I will put it on my FTP site and walk you through using it. David Fox |

is it posible to run an antivirus now? if so restart the computer holding F5 to boot in safe mode and run the anti virus. after its done delete whatever it finds, at that point reboot the system nomaly and it will go back to the normal mode. and see if that helps.
