2.4 radios

With the large crowd flying there how did all the radio system play together? where there any problems? and how many 72 against 2.4? Dennis

Not sure about the answer to your question but, The Nall is 2.4 only next year.

As the sale of 2.4 increases and the use at large events increases I was just wondering if there are any thing showing up. No matter how much testing is done only events like this prove the new technology is working. I was hoping that somebody kept up with radio use at the Nall .

I was on the main flight line with the potential of hundreds of radios being on at the same time. I had no problems and didn't hear of any. The only time I heard someone say they got a lockout was when they flew 70-some T-28's at the same time, but there was a mix of all types of radios, and who knows if it was a lockout or another problem.

They announced at the pilot's meeting that there was only 15 pilots out of nearly 900 registered on 72MHz.

2.4 GHz is here to stay for a while.

it was off my understanding that the RX's that were NOT DSM 2 RX'S were the only ones having issues ...

What are the specifics of RX failures... with 2.4 ... ??

I do a large amount of training and have had four "lock-outs or lost the bind" on Spectrum systems... DX7s ... These are not on the same transmitter ... but four DIFFERENT student transmitters...

Lost an H9 Alpha trainer yesterday... student had no control... I had no control... battery at 5.22 volts and RX was blinking red...

My understanding about everything is you need to run at least 6 volts. Knock on wood I have not had any problems with my 12x or 1221 reciever. I love it.

The 2.4 systems are not as forgiving with improper setup.

Thats my understanding also. I switched to A123 batteries just for this reason. I still fly the old Futaba PCM but I switched to the A123 batteries because I intended to fly the new 2.4.

Is that 5.22v under a load? Regardless, you need to switch to a 6v pack. These receivers reset themselves at around 3.7 volts or something like that. With the 4-cell nimh battery that comes with the radio, it can take as little as one stalled servo or a couple binding servos to drop the voltage to the danger zone - not to mention that nimh are a little iffy, IMO, in that there are all sorts of difference types/qualities of cells out there with different impedences and such.
Also, you can't "lose bind". It just doesn't happen, unless you command it to by inserting a bind plug.
Was this four different transmitters but only one plane? If so,it just proves that the plane is where you need to look. Look for binding linkages(any servo that buzzes on a .40 size plane is being overworked), fix that, change your battery and possibly buy a new switch, as it could be bad as well.

I have had my 10c for A while now and had no problems. I bought my brother A D6 and programed A 40 sized yaq to it and lost it due to low battery voltage. But other than that No 2.4 problems at all and I fly 5 different planes on mine from foamies to A 100cc Yaq.
