New to Big Ones

Hi, this is the first thread I've ever written, so here go's ..........

Just purchased a DA-50R, Pitts Muffler, Aeroworks Extra 260 50cc, Digital Servos, and I'm rarin to go. Incidentily, I have been flying for longer than I will mention, just not Big Ones. When you are starting out fresh on the large planes, it takes a wheelbarrow full of cash. No box to reach into for necessary parts.

My first question to those tuned in, concerns ignition harnesses, wiring, switches, and connectors.............Need suggestions.

welcome to the giants, you will be very happy with that plane and engine as far as the set up in a 50cc I always go with 1 fromeco 5200 battery , 1 fromeco regulator and 1 fromeco switch with regular futaba plugs as far as the ingition I would go with fromeco 2600 and a regulator as well

nothing to be concern about the ignition harness you can just solder a plug or buy a ignition adapter from TBM.

One word of advice, be sure to use fuel line barbs and zipties on the inside of the gas tank to make sure the pickup line does not fall off becuase tygon tubing expands/softens when exposed to gasoline for an extended period of time. Don't ask me how I found this out

Welcome. You live in the perfect town to get into big planes. A great resource is the Hobby Barn, on 21st St., just west of Kolb road. Bill Hemples parents own the shop and have some very helpful employees who fly, and can help out with setting up your plane.

Another good place to check for advice is the Tucson Radio Controll Club, located off Houghton Road at Valencia. A lot of the members there fly big planes and most of the local "Celebrity" pilots fly there also. With the shootout coming soon the field will probably get busy with local pilots practicing. Most of those guys are also helpful and willing to help out.
