New Memeber in Michigan

Hello All,

Just joining from Michigan.

Been a builder for about 20 yrs. Really strating to enjoy the flying part though.

I have been flying trainers up until last spring and graduated into some low wing 46 size better performing aircraft.....twist and the Sig Somthin Extra and a Supersportster 90-120 that I finished last spring. Great flying aircraft.

I have a Sig Citabria that is in the paint shop right now and a TF GS P51 that is about 1/2 complete. Every time I turn around I'm pouring more $ into the P51....LOL

Sense the P51 won't be done for awhile I am actully looking for an airframe (Extra 260, 300, Edge 540 or Yak for my DL 50CC gas engine. This is my first gasser and really want to get into that with the help of my club members.

So if anyone comes across a nice airframe for a reasonable price $ let me know.

Can you guys tell me much about some of the aircraft that are coming out of China?

Seems like you really need to watch what your doing. There was a 50CC Edge 540 on Ebay that I was thinking about purchasing for my Gas engine. Not much info there....went hunting on the net and found it was built by a Model company in China called Cyclone. What do you guys think...? Heard of them?

The guys have been really helpful providing extra pictures and information and it looks really well built adn a nice covering job.

Welcome to Flying Giants!

I would stay away from eBay for your first purchase for a Gas Plane. You'll have questions during the build, maybe service required and having bought from a reputable dealer it will make a pleasant experience for you.

My suggestion would be to buy a plane from Troy Built Models (TBM.com) or Tom from Wild Hare RC, or Aero-Works. There are some suttle details that are different when you get into Gas (all worth it) and you want a sound aircraft. Once you you've gone into Giant Scale (Gas), you never go back.

You should be able to find a Build Thread on any Plane you purchase, do a search in the Forums.
