Here's a few pics of P-47M Fire Ball in action at the One Eighth Air Force fall show this past weekend in Phoenix. Great event, great people. Bob Frey on the controls. Davegee |

This was one many fantastic airplanes that not only looked great on the ground, but were flown VERY well. Maybe Dave can post some of the detailed photos on this plane. I don't really pay much attention to scale airplanes, but this is off the hook.

For those interested, I'll post a few pics of details on the plane. It was built strictly for contests, so a few extra items were added. It features a detailed scale cockpit, powered sliding canopy, unique shaped (I designed it) releasable scale 150 gal. "flat" drop tank , working gear and flaps. and working cowl flaps. Bob Frey is the pilot for it. davegee |

Hi Dangerous Dan: I did do a similar thing with the gunbay on a previous P-47 model. On that one I had to make my own resin cast bullets, something I had not done before. This time however, I was luckier. I checked out Ebay about a year and a half ago, and happened to come across someone who was selling machined brass 1/6 scale 50 cal. bullets and connecting links. I bought four strings of them, everything he had. Due to the weight of the bullets, we take them out for flights. The rest of the ammo and gun bays are completely scratchbuilt, and each gun has about 30 handmade parts. Total time spent was probably a hundred hours on the ammo bays, mainly because of my previous experience noted above. Glad you like them. Davegee |
