Started RCin in 84, typlical sport flying, a little bit of pylon racing, fun fly. Got bored around 2002. You know, take off, do a couple of loops, fly by, two or three touch and go, camera pass down the runway, etc., waste of fuel. Decided to go 3D. Bought a Funtana 40, put an OS 50 on it set it up with huge throws and took it up. Scared me! It was all over the sky, no expo, no dual rates. Promised myself if I could get it back on the ground, I would try to learn 3D with another plane. Been flyin alot of electric 3D for the past two years, can now do the following manuevers with electrics, hover, torque roll, blender, elevator - upright and inverted, death slide, rolling circle with elevator only, waterfall, harrier. The harrier rolling circles still elude me as when I add rudder to keep the nose up, as soon as I need to adjust the throttle it all falls apart. Getting ready to go nitro and gas this spring/summer. I still have the Funtana 40 (will use saito 82), also Formula 3D (will use saito 82/100), Funtana 90 (with saito 125), Accel Kantana 70 GS (with saito 82), 25% Great Planes Yak 54 (gas, fujii-imvac 43cc?) I can't wait to do some nitro/gas huckin! Having the time of my life in RC, 3D has revived my interest and kept me exited about flying. Hover and out. Bill Martins |

Welcome Bill! You seem like the rest of us,,,eaten up by 3D flying! Well you came to the right place. Great bunch of guys with a can-do attitude. Any question you need answered is just a couple keys away. You will always find helpful guys with a ton of info to share. You'll also never ask a stupid question here. We all had to lean what worked and most of us got our knowledge from modelers who shared. We're all about that. Welcome brother and enjoy!!! PS,,, Huck means to fly on the ragged edge. You'll see that word a ton. Thought I'd drop you a quick tip. Biff

Hi Bill. I lived in Newberg till last summer. Do you fly out at the Spruce Goose or the Harris field in Mac? One of the engineers I worked with at Allen Machinery / FMC lives in Dundee & flies a Corona and an E-flite Ultimate. You ought to run across Nick sometime at the park in Dundee flying. Terry |
