Hi I'm new to this forum.
I enjoy flying AFPD sim R/C and making flying electric and gas models and non flying replicas for museums etc.
I'd like to make some models for AFPD and am trying to master this process.

My latest project just started is a 1/4 scale B24 Liberator in fibreglass to be on a pole or in a museum. Just making the engine moulds now for the P&W R1830-65

Stone the crows Geoff, Those photos are mind boggling.
I spendt a good eight years working in Central Queensland and often took a break in Brisbane or the Gold Coast. Bird watchers bar so thats giving the game away a little as for how long ago. Joe was the boss then and Hinze lake is well named after the big fella Russ. Minister for everything in those day.

But I remember going to a museum inland from Surfers one day and it was loaded with old airplanes.

Mate I take my hat off to you when it comes to the word modeller. Plus what you do with them to keep that history alive blows me away.

Every time I get back to NZ I like to hoof it down to Croyden and see what they are rebuilding. They often have some real treasures there being built for guys all over the world. Foxmoths, Beech Staggerwings, Tigers of course. In fact I think if you rolled into Croyden with the cheque book and a registation or serial number plate off an old moth you could likely fly one home brand spanking new

If I ever get close to Brisbane in the near future I would sincerely love to come and have a look at your workshop and chew the fat. I´m just bloody gob smacked with your work.

it would be good to see you if you ever get down this way. That'd be great. Only thing is the only interesting thing going on here is the 1/4 scale Liberator. I need to build some more models. I'll take moulds off the Lib as there were about 10 squadrons in this part of the world, so 10 potential clients..maybe

I was driving trucks at Saraji Coal Mine in Central Qld many years ago and really like the outback. I like to go out to Longreach occasionally and check out and maintain my models in the museum there.They reckon there are more replicas for me to make for them, but getting the money together for that seems to be a problem...not surprisingly. They have too many projects on the go too.

Croyden sounds unreal. I'd love to go and check that out. I went down to Avalon recently to check out the collection of John Pettit there. He has a Puss Moth and a number of rare biplane moths in perfect flying condition there. I forget the names, but apparently they're difficult to fly with their tapered wings...hard to keep straight on landing he says. We had a good flight in his Tiger Moth though.No worries keeping it straight.

yes I live just on the Eastern side of the Hinze Dam and used to fly the Sunderland there until about seven years ago. I still have all the moulds for that aircraft and would like to make an electric one with the great motors and batteries now available.
Since then I made the moulds for all parts of the 1/10 Empire boat and 1/10 Catalina and would love to make electric ones of those too. Too many projects and not enough time I guess but I hope to change that soon.

Mmmm. Saraji eh!!! I lived right next door for seven years in Tieri. Busted A$$ mechanic in those days for Oakey Creek Coal.

Too hot and too many flies in that place for a fun day with RC planes. The pubs were a good place to keep cool however. But that was a few moons ago mate.
