Default Just following forum rules... Hello from a new member!

Happy new year everyone!

I'm Sean from Fort Lauderdale, FL. I'm 31 years old and have been doing R/C since I was 10 years old but just took up flying less than a year ago. I enjoy all genres of R/C and I'm a nitro boater at heart but after learning to fly, I'm seriously addicted!

I got into flight with a GP Extra 300 Flatout. Yes, that was my "trainer". The motor fried after a few dozen flights so I trashed it and got a glow-trainer... the ugliest plane available... a World Models Sky Raider Mach 1. I'm on my 4th gallon of fuel with that plane and I still haven't crashed... yet.

Along the way I started making my own foamies (I'm a CAD tech and CNC programmer so I have a CNC router at my disposal) which is where 90% of my flight training has come from. Flying a 32" span foamy in 15MPH winds seems to be great training!

On the bench now is a Showtime 90 with a Saito 125. I expect to maiden her within 2-3 weeks and can't wait!

Great forum you all have here - keep up the great work.

Markham is a nice field, just be sure to keep your eyes peeled. Ive had one to many planes come over my head in the pits...

I've seen a guy one day there walk across the runway to the opposite side so he could land from his left instead of coming in from the right while at the pilot box.

Hi Boulder,
I've read about the issues with the gear plate. I think I already have some ideas on how to reinforce it (thanks to these forums). I'm just waiting on my servos to get here so I can complete the plane. I've seen a couple ST90s flying at my field and was very impressed.

Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome

My gearplate problem was entirely my own fault, but a little reinforcement is always a good idea.
One thing you want to remember, don't try to get a 1 to 1 ratio on your aileron servos, do them as the directions say...trust me

Can you elaborate on what you mean by 1 to 1 ratio on the AIL servos? Do you mean more up deflection than down?

By 1 to 1, I mean to have the pivot point of the control horns distance from the hinge line equal to the pivot point on the servo arms distance from the arms retaining screw. Common thought is to have those distances equal but the manual says to set the control horn connection at about 1 3/4" above the hinge line, or something like that.

I saw a guy's setup that had that distance at 1 1/4" just like his servo arm, 180 oz. metal geared servos and got fludder anyway. After moving the control horn connection out to the recommended distance, no more issues.

I have mine set at 1 5/8" but I'm only using 1" servo arms.
