I have been flying for about ten years but i wont make a splash here with what i fly. I can only afford .40 size stuff but my brother in law has a 27% cap 232 (the new great planes) so I can fly that any time he has it out. Ive been flying fs one for the last couple months due to weather.

If someone was dead bored and didn't have nothing else to do they could give me some pointers on how to make a plane with a very light wing loading 3D. The rudder and elevator don't seem to have enough authority but they do have enough throw. In other words it gets in a hover and when it falls off full throttle and full control just causes a harrier until it flies out. Am i just not catching it fast enough for this plane or do i need to crank the cog back farther yet? Or something else? Pheonix Funstar .40 is the plane. O.S. .46fx

my suggestion is get a bigger motor. it is difficult to make a 40 size hover with a 46 size motor. YES YOU CAN DO but it is easier to do it with more power and plus it will save your plane on more than one once.

appreciate the reply Firefighter but you are probably not familiar with this plane. Ready to fly with motor and fuel is around 4.5 to 4.75 pounds so it hovers at 1/2 throttle or slightly more. So power isn't an issue. It will fly straight and level on 2 to 3 clicks of power and harrier at 1/4 throttle. I think it's either a cog issue or I am just not quick enough on the sticks for this plane yet. Probably the latter.

Hey thanks Ericb I never thought about the servos. They are some old futaba ones i pulled out of a .40 sport flyer plenty good for that but probably not cutting it now. The more i think about it the truer that sounds. Thanks again. I will post if that works or not but it may be a while due to weather.

Haven't tried faster servos yet but spent about 30 to 40 hours on FS One since I last flew my funstar and I am astounded. Last time i flew it i couldn't hold a hover for more than 3 to 5 seconds and without changing the cog or throws or anything the very next time i flew it i could torque roll it for 8 to 10 rounds and hover for as long as i wanted. I am now a true believer in simulator practice, especially FS One. I don't mean to start any product arguments here but my brother in law has G3 and i could rougly touch the tail in a hover with the yak and when i got ahold of FS One it took me about 20 hours of flying before i could kind of hover the Edge 540. Then I finally started learning things. I hear people say G3 is better for pattern flying and i will believe them because i've never flown pattern and i don't know if its more realistic or not but my opinion rest heavily on FS One for 3D. Just my humble opinion. I don't attempt to call myself an ace flyer but I'm just tickled pink to be able to 3D a plane i thought was impossible to 3D. All because of FS One.
