Well I'll hopefully be up and running in a few weeks after taking a 10yr hiatus (sp.). I ordered an Ultra-RC Katana and plan on putting my old 3.2 Sachs on it, hopefully it's not too much for the light weight of the plane. I have an old Extra that I bought at a swap meet about 11 yrs ago that needs a little bit of repair. I don't know the brand but it's got an 80" wingspan. That's when I first got into flying the big ones. I used to fly at an old 1000 acre grass farm and had a flame out so I had to glide in. Everything was going fine till out the corner of my eye I saw one of the water wheel pipelines coming up and had to pull up over it. The big Extra glid right over it and then stalled straight ahead to a rough landing that sheered off the landing gear then tipped over and broke the top part of the rudder off. I put up the transmitter and got into other things after that. Now my brother started asking about it and wanting to know if I wanted to sell it to him. Long story short he bought some planes and I brought mine home from mom and dads and began wipeing the dust off of it and now we all (dad included) are trying to get back into it. Man have things changed after 10yrs.... |

welcome back. the sport is better than ever. Lower costs in general for anything electronic, better reliability. Somewhere along the line, there a developed a style of flying called "3D" that allows for even more variety of planes and flying styles. This was around ten years ago, but has really blossomed. Look also at the under 10 ounce foamies. Lots of fun per pound.
