Default Hello from Oklahoma

Hi everyone I just read an article in the local Edmond Ok magazine about Jim Flannigan and his "flying giant" RC airplane so I had to come on this site and sign up. I have been interested in RC airplanes for years but never felt I had enough time or money to really get into it. Now I'm older and have sent my last child to college I now have a little more of both. I look forward to learning from all of you and getting involved in this hobby. Thanks Bryon

Welcome Byyon, You're gonna have a ton of fun in here. Don't be afraid to ask questions. There's a great bunch of guys and gals in here that are willing to chat your ear off...there's just more of them during daylight hours! hehehe (P.S. You're probably not gonna learn to fly on a giant scale gasser unless you have a couple thousand dollars to throw away on a very regular basis. Better to start with a glow or electric "trainer" and move up from there.) To start, check out your local (or closest) hobby shop and ask for contact to flying clubs in your area. They'll set you on the right path.

Hello Bryon, glad you finally got the opportunity to fly. I've had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Flannigan at our giant scale fly-in in Fort Smith. What a nice and excellent flying guy. Maybe u can join us this year at our Arkie Okie fly-in.

Thank you all for your replies and encouragement. Yes Richard, I will start out with an inexpensive small plane but I do have my sights set on a "flying giant" someday. Josh, the article on Jim Flannigan is in the Edmond Outlook. Their website is www.edmondoutlook.com but their March magazine content isn't posted yet. Thanks again to all Bryon

Hey Bryon,

Great to have you here on the Giants and in my hometown. Glad the article caught your attention and if I can help in any way just holler at me here. Tons of info and some great guys to boot.

BTW, the article is now up on the Edmond Outlook website. Sorry for the ugly guy in the pics.

Jim
