Default Crashed Twist

I am new to any forum. I have been working around and building models since I was 8, I am 61 now. I have been in and out of RC for about 14 years. I am a retired Air Force F-4, F-15, F-111 and T-38 crew chief. I was on the US Air Force Air Demonstration Team (Thunderbirds) and was crew chief on Thunderbird 2 for about a year and a half while on the team from Nov 1971 to March 1975. I guess I have been involved in aircraft since I was a kid.
I crashed my Hanger 9 Twist 40 with a Saito 82a in it. Total distruction, never had a crash this bad. I hit a tree at high speed and cracked the engine case, bent the crank, distroyed the Spectrum reciever, broke the battery pack and even pull the wires out of the onboard switch. The servos look ok but I don't know if I should trust them. I guess I should send the servos to JR and have them checked out prior to using them again in an aircraft. I ordered another twist as I really enjoyed flying it but am going to put a OS 55 on it this time and will try to keep it out of the trees.

You will love the OS 55, I have one on an OMP Boxxer. Sorry about the crash.

Twist is a great plane. Sorry to hear about the death of yours. My twist is the plane that I can't wreck. I do stuff with that plane I wouldnt dare do to my others and it just won't crash(knock on wood). But anyway welcome and watch out so no more trees jump out in front of you.

Welcome. I was a F-15 crew chief from 94 to 98 stationed in Anchorage AK, in the STL Gaurd from 98-02 and worked for Macdonald douglas/Boeing on the F-18/ F-15. Good to see another mechanic...

I worked F-4's at Elmendorf when I left the team from March 1975 to November 1979. I came back to Galena as NCOIC of the alert cells and took F-4's off alert and put F-15 up between 1982-1983. I work at the A-10 System Program Office as lead mechanical equipment specialist at Hill AFB Ut.
Recieved my Twist and OS 55 today and hope to fly it in a week or so.

Now that I changed engines to an OS 55 I was wondering if a 12/6 or 12/7 prop would be a good size? I think a 13 would be to big for a aerobatic twist.

I run a saito 56 and a 12x4 prop. Works great! The twist is a slow flying plane so I would keep the pitch down and the length up. Maybe a 13 or 14x4.
