Wink New East Coast Cannuck

From the Saint John, NB area in Canada. I am new to the hobby and new to the board. Have browsed the board a bit and seems to have a lot of good info and am trying to soak it all in. LOL

In the past have dallied in the hobby a small bit and even built a Stick 40 and purchased a radio and Fox engine for it. Though never got it off the ground and ended up selling it did have a blast though learning. Have been doing a bit of reading and always kept buying the RC magazines an kept on dreaming. Well time to come on out of the closet and shake the head. Will be reading a lot more and will brose through the info on this site and others. An informed mind will make better choises. So Far have been leaning towards the purchase of Hobbico NexStar Select for a trainer plane. Have looked into membership into the local RC club and also into the National MACC membership. Want to this round right by learning right and then should feel mor satified with this Hobby.

Well will end this with a freindly hello from sunny Saint John, NB, Canada

Hey Elton,

You are doing it right, joining a club that has an instructional program, it's the only way.
The Nexstar is a good trainer, along with a bunch of other ones. I learned on an Avistar Select, so I'm a little biased there. When I was ready, I was able to max out the throws on my Avistar and do some pretty good aerobatics. Those first months were a ball!!

Welcome to the Giants!! As you have already seen, this place has a ton of stuff to offer. The pics and vids are the best you will find anywhere, and the info is endless!!

It's great to have you here, please enjoy and come back often.

Elton,
It's a great hobby, I've been addicted since I was a kid. If you haven't done any flying yet, a good suggestion would be to invest in a simulator. You can practice at home until your thumbs learn what your brain is trying to tell them to do. It makes it a lot easier on your plane when you do start flying.

Good advise with the simulator. A good simulator will pay you back X10 in progress and planes. Even once you are past the learning stage the simulator will help you learn new moves to wow your friends.
A few good sims are Aerofly Pro or aerofly Pro Delux, Reflex XTR, Realflight G2 or G3

Welcome to the site. Enjoy.

The Idea of the sim. is one of the reasons am leaning towards the Hobbico NexStar Select is it does come with Realflight Sim. Also As a RTF the Pre broke in OS engine is preinstaled as is the Futaba radio. I would think that playing with the Sim first and attending a meating or two around here. Get to know the guys and also learn from them as deff going to need the help. lol. Once talking to some will be more informed and will lay out the $ to kick off a good hobby.
